  1. Thanks! Had to take 10-20 pictures to get a good one. Going to play with different lenses in the future. Found some nice reading materials on RC and reefkeeping mag
  2. Got my self a new camera last week, Cannon T5i, and been playing around with it for a while, I've also picked up some Sigma budget macro/tele lenses... still need to learn how to take good pictures. here are few pictures from (the came ok) from the display tank.
  3. Thanks for the pointers man!, just winged it... with my messed up iphone 5 (touch screen only works sometimes). I am going to take a video every two weeks moving forward, will try to make it less shaky next time.
  4. Thanks all for the tips, going to take it slow, might order a small cuc package for a 30 gallon or so to sea how things move on. I've seeded the sand bed from my refuigium few times, but pods population still small comparing to the fuge...
  5. Any specific location where it good to collect those?
  6. What kind of sea cucumber is that? How big they get? What they feed on?
  7. I've read somewhere that the pump shouldn't kill the pods
  8. Thanks! just went to check on the chalice, it seems to be doing a lot better now. will leave them in the frag tank for few weeks.
  9. My chalice is still not doing great (no color), but the monitoras are doing pretty well. also the Acro nana started to show polyps today.
  10. Long list of tanks seems like you've thought of everything! I kind of forgot to plan for a QT Tank in my build.... I might put it under the display tank... but then maintaining it would be pita.... the other option is to put it on a shelve... but not sure how it will hold. How are you planning to install the shelving? would it be one of those shelving units that seat on the floor? or something you are going to mount on the wall?
  11. Hi All, I think it's time to put cleanup crew in my 265 display tank... just starting to see a little diatom algae growing on the gravel in some spots... the tank has been running for over 4 months now. and I've already got clean up crew in my refugium (got the 55 gallon pack from reefcleaners.com). also got few snails in my frag tank. I am looking for creative ideas for interesting clean up crew. I don't want to have a tank with 300 snails... and the cleanup packages they offer on many of the sites seems overkill in my opinion. so you guys with the large tanks, I would love to know what you have / recommend... Thanks!!!
  12. First time for me too. Had really good time many thanks for all the vendors and everybody who made it happen! Was worth missing the World Cup final for it
  13. Thanks! I am finally done with my frag rack. Spent the morning moving the rest of the live rock from the frag tank into the refugium and sump. Now I have place for new frags. I've also finally attempted to frag my branching hammer. So far so good. All the heads seems to open alright. I did lose one because I snapped it too close and it cracked I've also finished painting the sides back and bottom of the qt tank. Just need to order a small heater for that tank and I'll be ready to go. I found out that my diy temp sensors started to rust... I guess stainless steel is not absolutely rust resistant. Ended up covering the probes with plastic dip. Will let it cure for a week or so before I put it back in tank
  14. Update time... Nothing new in the past few weeks. I finished acclimating few corals and moved 3 of them to the display tank. I still need to fine tune the powerheads so they don't make the front of the tank bare bottom Apparently I got some kind of clam in that live rock. Not sure what type but I guess it's filter feeding
  15. Tank looks awesome! Same here... the closest my wife got to having her own tank is having a little betta fish.
  16. I'll try the Germantown branch once the game is over
