  1. Ken, I am interested to know which inverts are you planning to acquire. Loving your fish list, might copy few things from it. I wonder how will it work with all the angels + corals. aren't those a little risky?
  2. I don't know, I am getting good coverage, nothing is browning or bleaching... so i guess it's ok. seen few stores that have their LEDs up high.
  3. before i went on my vacation in September, I've borrowed the club's PAR meter to take some measurements. Wanted to post those long time ago, but never got to it. so here we go. For the frag tank, I am using 2 Lumia 5.2 packs, no optics, the measurements seems really low, but everything looks go and colors up nicely., it's good to add, that several of the montis in this picture didn't survive the monti eating nudibranch attack... including the purple one, and the green one i got from the Frag fast (source), also the green one with the orange polpys didn't make it, it's in the left bottom corner in the picture. Next is the frag tank, using a custom built Radion G3 fixture, which includes two packs. picture came really dark for some odd reason. And last is the display tank, running 5 custom made radion G3 fixture, each one has 2 pucks. mounted about 1.5-2' from the water line. I am really interested in finding out what other radion g3 users have measured using the clubs PAR meter. Also is there a calculation available to convert the par reading from LEDs to the one that would have been taken under MHs for example?
  4. Absolutely!!! I actually find it funny the way they sleep too. Wish I could have taken some night pictures.
  5. He's lazy... Almost like me haha. He was chilling underneath the rock structure
  6. First fish are finally in. Picked up 7 lyrtail anthias from Marco and Richard today. Mangrove starts to sprout finally
  7. It's been a very very long time since my last update... So I'll try to recap all the updates that happened during the past two months. Firstly I went on vacation in September for about three weeks. A week before I left I found monti eating nudibranches on one of the monti caps I got from the frag fast. I tried to eliminate them before my vacation by doing dips every two days and scrabbling the coral back. And I thought I got rid of them. When I got backi found out that the little suckers managed to survive and found 2 caps completely white and nudis on several other caps. Couple days after I got back I went to petco and got a small heater 5 gallon tank and set up quarantine tank for corals. I placed the rest of the montis in there for about 3 weeks and I believe I am free of monti eating nudis now. Now I am working in building a small cabinet for the coral QT tank that will house the trash can for the fish room few small shelves to store some stuff and the tank. I am hoping to finish priming and painting it white to match the sink cabinet tomorrow and connect an old reefkeeper controller to it and keep it running with a little bit of live rock
  8. Good luck with the stocking list Ken, I am still trying to figure out mine... Just have 2 fish in the frag tank and one of them is 6 line wrasse
  9. Good luck with the stocking list Ken, I am still trying to figure out mine... Just have 2 fish in the frag tank and one of them is 6 line wrasse
  10. Oh yea that part takes forever. I filled mine with saltwater right away since I placed the rock and send before... Also had to repair those scratches from my rock slide. Took me about a week to get all the water mixed and filled...
  11. Water!!!!! Are you filling it with ssltwater? Or just doing water test?
  12. Haha I was on a vacation for three weeks when I came back one of the power heads fell off and caused a spike in nitrates killing two fish. Also those little Monti eating nudis manged to survive so when I came back 2 Monti caps were gone and I'm still trying to get rid of them by moving all of my montis to a QT tank. Lost another two in the process. So thingsbeen a little tough for me haha
  13. I was wrong... They moved to other monti caps :( it sucks I have to travel on Thursday and won't have enough time to fully take care of them. I am thinking about bringing in a small six line wrasse and put it in the frag tank. Hopefully it will keep them under control until I am back
  14. I think I was able to kill all of them. Haven't seen any in the past few days. I ended up seeping the coral about 3 times over the span of a week. Used toothbrush to scrape the eggs in the back of the coral and turkey Baster. I am going to leave those monti caps out of the display tank for the next 2 months just to be safe.
  15. Thanks, good tip! I read online that the eggs usually hatch in 48-94 hours
  16. That is sweet I'll be looking forward to it.
  17. After finding Monti eating nudis on one of the monti caps that I dipped when I first received it, and now trying to kill the little buggers... I decided to spend the extra money and putting together a small coral QT Tank. I was thinking to go with either the jbj 3 gallon or the nuvo 4 gallon tank. does anyone here have experience with either one of them? I plan to keep corals in there for at least 2 months before moving them into the frag tank. hoping that taking this extra step will help to prevent any other pests in the future... unfortunately dipping wasn't enough in this case. I would love to hear about your experience with QTing coral frag over long period of time. Thanks!
  18. I removed all 3 monti frags from the display tank. Found those little buggers on 2 of the montis but I ended up dipping and scrabbling the buttons of all 3 again. I'll keep close eye on those 3 montis. They are back in the frag tank now. https://vimeo.com/104879614
  19. @Mods, can you please move this tread to the General Discussion forum? I've accidentally opened it here. I got a video of it, it's a little shakey, had to really zoom in to capture it few pictures with the monti, you can see that it seems like that sections of the monti were being eaten off.
  20. Hi All, I've been seeing a little fuzzy things under the green monti cup i got from the Frag fest (i did originally dip it in with coralRX), based on quick google search, i found out that dipping is not effective against eggs.. which could have been what was left after the dip :( anyhow... Has anyone battled these little guys before? any natural predetors that will pick them up? I am a little worries putting it back in the frag tank since i got several monti cups in it. all are doing fine.
  21. It really came back nicely!!!! It was very nice seeing it come back to "life" in my frag tank too. was like a wrapped present
  22. Where did you place it in your tank? I still got him in my frag tank, I'll probably be moving all the frags over to the display tank this weekend. On another note, finally finished the qt setup, took me over a month to complete... Been a little lazy. The tank is 20 long. I am planning to fill it up with about 15g of water. Got tetra wisper ex20 as the filter and two air bars for aeration... I haven't decided if I want to run it full time or not yet. I am not planning to buy any fish on the next month and a half. I'll probably pick up the first fish from Marco. Once I decide which ones I want lol. Here are few pictures:
  23. Will post those links tonight. I should have made a nice book mark for all of those oh well. Also wanted to share something cool which I didn't know about. chalice has really long sweeper tentacles. I was working on my sump just now and I looked up at the frag tank. And the piece I got from The frag fast had at least 1-2" sweepers. Here's a picture:
