  1. Finally transitioned the yellow lemon chromis over to the display tank. They are about an inch long now
  2. You've designed a great system with many failovers. I'm glad to hear it worked when needed
  3. Awesome thanks, I'll stop by them on my way back from work. They are on GA ace right?
  4. is there any local vendor that carry those? looking to order one, but I don't have the week delivery time to wait. Thanks!
  5. Absolutely, using that ammonia monitor thingy, going to do 30% wc in couple of days too
  6. So far so good, they seem to go crazy over the reef chillies, do you think I should also give them flakes just to be safe?
  7. Got those little guys from DaveS on Saturday morning. So far they are doing great eating reef chilly twice a day! They will stay in the qt tank until they reach an inch or so in length
  8. I'll ask them for a quote again, don't mind ordering 100, if you want to take some off my hands.
  9. Would you recommend Cozumel? Any good diving shops down there? I am trying to plan a dive trip in February or March
  10. Picked up more fish from Marco on Wednesday. 4 purple firefish, yellow coris, 2 sleeper yellow head gobies and long nose butterfly. Haven't seen the yellow coris since I put him in the tank. Read that they can stay under the sand for days. Hopefully he'll come out soon
  11. I think it's possible that my readings are off because of my RO/DI water, and the fact that I didn't use the tip on the syringe. Going to try again once the water and the syringe arrives from Hanna Instruments.
  12. Thanks Rob! A quick update on the anthias... 6 of the original anthias got mysteriously sick with fin rot... I guess something in my yank stress the H-E-double hockey sticks out of them. Marco and Richard were nice enough to give me replacements for the lost fish. It's been about 4 days since the replacements arrived and since I pulled the last dead anthia from the tank. I hope they stay healthy moving forward And a quick full tank shot. I am going to be moving about 15-20 frags to the display tank tomorrow night so I'll have some space to buy new frags over Black Friday weekend.
  13. Reached out to Hanna Instruments yesterday, they got back to me this morning. they sent me an updated instruction sheet: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wsjm00d7d9tm6hh/HI%20758%20TIPS.doc?dl=0 and they said they will send me one battle of RO/DI water, and the .5ml syringe.
  14. Where can I find those .5ml syringes? Looked in Amazon but no luck
  15. Seems like I might... I am really happy with the other 2 color meters I got but this one is just too touchy. I've been filling it up to the 1ml market, pushing it down to .9 so only dispensing .1 ml
  16. Hi, I am getting different readings form my CA Hanna checker, anywhere from 500-570 (i know its a bit high... that's another mystery.. last week it was 465, didn't add new salt water or anything). Does any one have any experience with those meters? anyone got similar readings? those The first reading i took, was 570, which seemed really high, so i tried another test, and it came 510, tried another one and it came 525. followed the instruction and used ro/di water.
  17. I did some basic testing with it using the arguing, but all the communication with the stamps is done via serial communication, just sending text messages to the device and listening for feedback. One important thing that I had to learn the hard way was not to take continuous conductivity readings. It will mess up all the other instruments. You want to wait at least a second or two and make sure you only pull single readings.
  18. I think it's mostly because of the learning curve.
  19. I would absolutely go with the atlas scientific scientific stamps, they are great. I got the previous version of all of their stamps, had to upgrade to the EZO version of the conductivity probe because they stopped selling the old calibration fluids for the old stamp. each probe will require one serial connection, if you are running only ph probe, arduino uno might be ok. But I ended up getting the arduino mega, and also the multi circuit board: http://www.atlas-scientific.com/product_pages/components/multi_carrier.html?, which allows you to use one serial connection for up to 8 probes. For my controller I went with the following: - Arduino mega to control lights, pumps, get sensor information - An old linux box with bluetooth dongle to communicate with the arduino mega - A nodejs server running front end, and all the complex logic. I've been working on it slowly for the past year or so, still pretty buggy, and I've spent way more than what an Apex gold package would probably cost me. However i enjoy messing around with it.
  20. Hi Guys, just want to drop a thank you line here. I've just picked up my first batch of fish for my tank, 7 Lyrtail anthias. The fish are doing awesome, very active, eating and looking very healthy. I've also bought several frags from ERC, everything I got so far is doing great, not pests or anything like that. Thanks!
