I don't have it yet. I am waiting to get a deal on it somewhere. From all that I have read on reviews, it is all that and some. Especially with the camcording. So I figure it does everything pretty good, there's no reason for me to get too crazy with it, yet... If I get more into photography later, it can handle a lot of it. And if it doesn't I can always upgrade. I know I won't carry extra lenses, and sit there adjusting settings and stuff. I don't even do it with my underwater camera that much. So this should work fine for me. I see the "scores" of DSLR, but I know from personal experience that is treading in professional quality. If you don't have professional quality post-processing software (which I do already) then that won't make much difference - at least from what I hear. So that might be something to take into consideration. I just know I won't have the time or drive to get all crazy into photography. Especially the post-processing part. All I want to do is adjust a few things, crop and print. If it takes a really nice clear picture, that is mainly what I am looking for so I can print them out and all that. I'll let you know if I find a deal though.

There is a long term reefer up here using the same stuff as you. I am looking into doing it as well since it is about 10x cheaper, if not more. He also found a place for calcium, I'm not sure where though. I have to talk to him about it a little more since I will be sticking to 3 part dosing.

I've seen some pretty big pods in my tank before, but that one takes the cake! That thing is huge. A mandarin couldn't even chow down on that thing, you might scare it into eating mysis if it sees that thing.

I have been doing a little research and reading up on this. Lmk how it works for you and your results.

Zoozilla's 320 Gallon "Moved to Another House" System
Sikryd replied to zoozilla's topic in Dedicated Tank (Build) Forum
Dan - nice meeting you today. I hope you like the frag and it does well for you. Thanks for picking up Chip's frag as well. That made it a lot easier on me. Nice looking tank! Definetely have to check that out in person sometime. It looks like I am going to hold off on my final aquascaping till I can get some acrylic rods and try that out. -
Anyone have experince with Tube Anemones?
Sikryd replied to nelson_crn's topic in General Discussion
Mine did that once too, it seemed like it didn't like where it was or something. They do that though from time to time. It will rebuild a new tube when it cruises somewhere else. It uses dead nematocyts to create a new tube. That is why I got rid of it though. I didn't like the idea of it moving around on me. Mine seemed to like moderate flow, not too high. It should be fine, but I would check your parameters just to make sure. -

What is odd behaviour? I had one for about 6 months. I miss it now. -
Glad someone bumped this. I saw this on R2R - truly a nice project! I can't wait to see how things come along and production is going. That is pretty cool that it is all sunlit.

When I got some a while back, I would put a strip of in my tank for my Tang and Foxface to eat, but made sure to pull out the stem when they were done, just for that reason.

It didn't take you two years to grow it that big did it? That would be the slowest growing cyphastrea I have ever seen!

Thanks Doug, I'll park there then. I parked over by the Department of Agriculture last time, at some underground hotel parking. It was about the same $, but further away.

This is what I decided to get since I don't feel like spending the time to learn everything. It should take care of all the things I need it to do. Including RAW settings, which is as far as I am going to go for now. \ Plus it will double as my camcorder With a baby on the way, I figure I needed something nice enough to take some nice print quality photos, as well as something for the reef, but nothing too extravagant where I would have to read a bunch of stuff on how to use it. (Which I KNOW I will do anyway :/ )

Are you going to the Summer Meeting this Sat? I'll pick some and try them out if you do.

Well, that is fitting that it is right down the street from the Indonesian embassy. The reviews look okay, no website though - A picture always helps when it is a hole-in-the-wall (my favorite restaurants!)

Jaesun - I looked at the menu and they have the Jakarta rice, which is Nasi Goreng. I'm not really looking for Singaporean or Malaysean food. I think the name is just that way since it is more of a popular trans-destination. I'll check out the malaysean restaurant you posted. So the Real World is filming down there huh? That might be fun to see The wife and I still watch that every now and then.

Thanks for the help guys. I found the restaurant we will be going to hopefully - she is pregnant, so tastes can change I'll have to do some research this week and kind of make a little plan then. We'll probably end up driving, just because I hate being stuck anywhere without a vehicle. I don't mind the parking issue. It is easy compared to Japan. $20 for an all day spot, is just the price you pay I guess. I'll definetely look into doing the NHM and maybe a few others close by. We're kinda into just cruisin' around and checking whatever out. We modern and contemporary art, so I'll have to hit that up on google and see what comes up for D.C. unless anyone has any suggestions.

Like he showed above - you either have to buy the same ballast that came with your fixture, or from the same company, or buy the wires listed above and re-wire your light. Or option C: and re-wire your ballast. It sounds like you will be doing option A Returning the ballast and buying the same brand one as your lights so it plugs right in. What light fixture do you have?

I was thinking about taking the trip down there to see the Aquarium and hitting the summer meeting this Saturday. Is the Aquarium worth checking out for 3-4 hours, or more like 1-2? We have been down that way to go to the mall, Lincoln memorial and all that, is there anything else someone can recommend so we can check a few things out and kind of make a day of it. I am from S. California, and the wife from Ohio - so we're really tourists when it comes to all the stuff the East coast has to offer. So I like cruisin' around and checking things out. Especially since we are only ~an hour away. Is the $17.00 parking for all day pretty much the best deal? Or should be try the metro from Glen Burnie? I heard it is Marc or something, then you have to change over somewhere to get on the train that goes to D.C. I am well versed in Subways and Trains since we lived in Tokyo for 5 years, so I wouldn't mind trying it. I just have no idea what the names are, where the stations are at or anything. I'd like to make a nice day of it, then have a good dinner after the meeting before heading home. If anyone knows of an Indonesian food place down there, that would seal the deal, since the wife has been craving Nasi Goreng. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Definetely not a good idea then as far as nutritional. Tangs definetely benefit from having algae given daily. That will help with the ich as well. I personally did a full QT for 8 weeks on mine, and all subsequent additions got QTed as well. Although that isn't easy, or the only way to deal with ich from what I have read. Which I think is the way to go in the long haul since it is supposed to keep your system ich free. I don't know either way for sure, or scientifically. I know it has worked great for me so far. I got tired of losing fish and dealing with ich. Some people swear by feeding their fish good and it keeps the stress down, which keeps ich at bay. I have read you can add rid ich - or something like that to kill it in your display and that it is safe in reefs, but I have no idea. I would start off by giving them a varied diet, 3x a day if you can to help alleviate the stress, which will reduce the effects of the ich. Good luck

Wow I guess you need to read your posts to see that you wacked some words up. Nutritional. lol It would say on the package, vitamin enriched or something if it is frozen. I'm not sure since I have bought brine in over a year. Its a waste of money unless it is a new fish that I am trying to get to eat. Even then I buy the live stuff and mix is with frozen mysis, and then end up eating both. This is mainly for my wrasses since some can be finicky eaters.
-
Unless it is gut fed brine, there isn't much nutricianal value in it. I would feed spirulina, mysis, and nori to start. I feed my fish about 10-15 different things, but you don't need to.

Congrats - thats awesome! Guess I'll have to check that site out more

I have 150g rubbermaid stock tank you can borrow if you want.

Sounds like you are figuring it out. Its kind of nice to have a par meter handy sometimes to be able to test stuff like this, since you don't really know the amount of "energy" it is putting out the naked eye. Good luck, hopefully it is something simple.
