  1. just wondering how everyone else might have done it. I have a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old. I am about to set up my sump and do not want them to play in it. Pictures would help too. thanks

  3. i think we need a full tank shot of all the eye candy
  4. I am going to try to plumb my overflow when i get home from work today. I was going to stop by lowes to get some supplies. What size PVC pipe do i need to get to plump the Mag5 for my return. thanks...
  5. Since there has not been a post about this in over a year, I was wondering if there is any opinions of people with the $195 Tunze unit. Is there anything better on the market that doesnt cost as much. thks
  6. i got a frag of neon green birdsnest for you. just let me know when you want it.
  7. vortech, tunze and of course a modded maxi-jet....got to love it...i hear your downgrading the skimmer...what are you going too?
  8. no....the next step is building a stand...then it goes up....and that tank is huge....i love the 36" depth...but im more partial to 20" height. not the 27" that is has....but hey...its still an awesome tank..i cant wait to see it full.
  9. Boret....your pictures do not due your tank justice. I was amazed at the colors you had in there..excellent job.
  10. will let you know...going to try the 20 high first...just to see if it fits.
  11. I have a cherry finish modern stand, not sure who makes it, but i can not remove the side panels. Boret also has the 20 high, so when i return his 29 gallon, i will grab the 20 high and see how that fits...Im sure it will be a tight fit, but i think it will go in. but now Boret has me thinking of breaking down the 75 to drill it and then set it back up. decisions, decisions..
  12. these are what im looking for. I would only need it for about 20 minutes. I could pick up and drop off the next day, or maybe the same day if your close to me. thanks 15 Gallon 24 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 12 3/4 20 High 24 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 16 3/4 25 Gallon 24 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 20 3/4 30 X-High 24 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 24 3/4
  13. I just need to borrow it for about 20 minutes...I need to see if it can fit under my stand with my skimmer in it. thanks.
  14. that tank is already full. you need to upgrade again....
  15. depending on time...i might be able to lend a hand.
  16. as for the size that i came up with, it is because i am currently using a 120 stand, rebraced for a 75 gallon. so i do not have the full ability to use the entire space underneath the tank. I measured the with of the door and the height and came up with those dimensions so that it can slide right into the stand. As for a 29 gallon, i need to see the dimensions of that to see if it will work. Aside from the strange size of the sump, does anyone think that it will be enough room to house the skimmer and account for a power outage? thanks
  17. I am trying to come up with a sump design to fit under my 75 gallon tank. I have come up with this design and I'm wondering what/if anyone see's any problems with the design. My skimmer is the Royal Exclusive Alpha 200. designed to operate in about 8-10 inches of water. I will be doing an overflow box into this sump also..since my 75 is not reef ready. And my plan is to run an Eheim 1260 externally back to the overflow box. here are some pics of the outline of the sump....made out of cardboard. the dimensions are 18 x 13 and i was planning on going 25" tall for a sump volume of 25 gallons. I have never used a sump before, always HOB skimmers, so im not sure if this will be big enough for my 75 gallon. I am worried that if the power goes out, the sump will overflow. I calculated that the sump will have about 10-15 extra gallons available for overflow once the pumps turn off. Is that enough of a buffer when dealing with a 75 gallon tank? Is there any thing else I need to worry about? thanks... eric
  18. Can i drill the bottom, make an overflow box and make it look like a reef ready tank? or can i only drill back and sides... thanks
  19. thanks...i was sure my idea was not going to work...jason, will send you a pm
  20. I have been looking into doing an overflow box on my tank and am not sure I want to spend several hundred dollars since I am planning an upgrade in the next 6 months. Just wondering if this would work for the time being. What if i took one of my powerheads, attached airline tubing to it and routed the tubing to the sump. Lets say a maxi-jet 1200 pushing 295/gph. Now in the sump, I put a pump, unsure what kind, maybe an enheim 1260 for the return. (there would be a valve on the return to equal the maxi-jet) Aside from the strange look it might have, does anyone see any particular problem with this? I have not experimented with it yet, but I want to use my new skimmer that I bought, but I done feel like spending the $200 for the overflow box. Plus the chance that it will loose siphon or even overflow the sump. Your comments would be appreciated. thanks
