  1. Mine was the size of a football, came back after Thanksgiving and was hanging like a wet rag inside the rocks, 2 days later, I notice it was sticking out of the rocks top and bottom!!!!! ..wait a minute, there is space between those arms....IT SPLIT!!!! YES!!!!
  2. Welcome aboard! I live off Rt 7 East, just 1 mile off 66 before the Bike Path overpass. Feel free to stop by sometime, just give me a call, 703-899-6209. I have RO/DI water available, 90g tank to see and might have a coral or two for you to get started? Howard
  3. Alot of cleaners, possibly not alot of food (waste) for them yet, drop some food in for them occasionally, especially with the crabs or you will see your snails going bye bye soon!!
  4. Dang Dan, shame you got no skills!!!!
  5. Welcome Matt! Sounds like your completed your cycling process, Lighting looks good and you seem to have some PATIENCE which will come in handy for sure! So good going so far! As you might have figured out so far, which way you go, the choices are numerous and none of them will be right or wrong, just different. Whether you go SPS (Not recommended for a Noob, but doable!) or anything else, here are a few suggestions. First, I know you said your more interested in corals, but a couple of good maintenance species to keep algae, critters, etc in check for your 120g setup. Cleaners: Depending on the depth of your sandbed, 10-30 Nassarius Snails for starters, constantly turning over gravel/sand bed. 10-20 Dwarf Hermit Crabs, (IMO in this order #1 Red Tipped Legs, Red Legs and Blue Legs) 1 Sallie Lightfoot Crab 1-3 Blue Neon Striped Hermit Crabs 3 Chestnut Snails, love the color and their great on the glass 10-20 Cerith Snails 5-10 Margarita Snails 1 Court Jester or Randfordi Goby, constantly cleaning sand and beautiful fish 1-2 Tangs, alot of choices here for picking at algae, but Yellow or Powder Blue/Brown are very popular This should take care of basic maintenance and give your tank some "movement" Corals, choices are endless, but... Mushrooms: remember, they can spread quickly in your tank! Zooanthids "Zoos" Numerous colors, so according to your "PLAN", choose a type/color that your working for? LPS: Ricordias, Frogspawn, Plates, Acans, etc. Candy Canes fall in this category, but seem for some, hardy to keep going! Leathers: Devil Hand, Sarcophytons, Sinularia's (Yellow, Green, Pulsing, etc) Can help you with these when your ready? Xenias and Capenellas are two popular items, but can quickly take over your tank if not careful! Wish you luck, but remember to keep it simple and have fun!! Howard
  6. Steve, Tank looks great!!! BTW, Appreciate the referral!!!
  7. I concur! Possibly SHOW in GENERAL Section, but only allow MEMBERS to post in it??? This way, the General audience can see the memberships tanks, but must be a member to reply to it? ...if this permission is available? ..if not, post anyway in general and let it rip?
  8. May have got my own answer??
  9. Reef safe? Being that its a Basslet, will it harm my shrimp? (Cleaners and maybe later a Fire?)
  10. Was looking at adding this beautiful fish to my tank, anyone have one or know someone who has? Swissguard Basslet
  11. Not myself, but met a guy in a fish store with a nasty scar from a Dog Fish Puffer that took a hunk the size of dime right out of the meat of his hand! OUCH!!
  12. Hopefully Jeff will answer with the exact products, but he recommended using 6000 grit I believe attached to your Magfloat. Said will elliminate the scratches in no time!
  13. Tonkadawg, Nice pics! .you still not a member yet?
  14. Whoa, Dave, Sorry for your lost! Seems been a tough year for all!! All I can say is that hair algae outbreak I had last year was completely wiped out in one week but 2 FAT Tangs, One Yellow and one Powder Blue! Beautiful too!
  15. Madmax, when we ever have that lunch? I'M DRIVING!!!!! Howard of Northern Virginia Avator is from a club I belong to: North American Hunting Club.
  16. SWEET PIECE BOB!!!
  17. Steve, How old are your bulbs? Checked the PAR Levels if you did a while back and see how much they have dropped? Possibly time for a change? When I was testing bulbs in the past, they average a 15% decrease over a 4 month period.
  18. Sweet tank Bob!! Think about a Tank Tour in the near future for the DC Group?
  19. My Firefish was missing for about 3 weeks, back again! My Purple Firefish was missing for about a month after my Ich Breakout, showed up one day, not looking well but moving. Gone again, this time I fear the worst! Had Black Brittle Starfish that I had in a 30g tank. One day, saw it with just STUMPS for arms, not more than 1/4" each on the bottom of a rock. Sold tank one and kept a couple of LR. Started 75g tank for about a year, then moved and when setting up the rocks, this FULL SIZE Black Brittle Starfish came out! Was too cool!
  20. Dittos that, they are one of the most fearless fish I've seen! Fish zooming around the tank 100x their size and they are racing to get the last crumb! One of these days, I'll see their tail sticking out of the Perculas mouth, just before they spit them out!
  21. Unbelievable, the second Firefish is back from the dead!!! Don't know where he has been for the last week+, but swimming and looking great! Too many caves and crevices to hide in?
  22. Looks great! We have to do that lunch starting at your place first!!!!
  23. Iloved my Yellow Canary "Coris" Wrasse! Beautiful and great personality!
  24. Welcome to the REAL World Tee, Bambi doesn't live in your tanks! Snails, particular the Nassarius Snails are the rabbits of the under world, EVERYTHING eats them! IMO For cleaning your tank, the Bluelegs, Redlegs and Redtipped Leg Dwarf Hermit Crabs are the best in that order, but also the most aggressive!! Never fails when you have the first 2 in your tank that you add a periodic order of new Nassarius that in a few days, ALL the Blue & Redlegs are running around with NEW Snail Shells!! That's why for my $, I only put Redtipped Leg Hermits in my tank from Mexican Waters and Blue Neon Striped Hermits! Both clean great my not the same level of agressiveness!!
  25. Rick Any chance on the male perc?
