I do agree though. This place is the best!

Where the heck do you make that assumption? Do you know who his insurance company is, how many claims he has had in the past, and what his policy limits are? My guess since he is military is that he has a USAA policy. If he does, he is more than covered. "If" he has insurance, he can certainly claim the damage, but doubtful they would cover the source of the damage. There have been cases where the insurance company goes after the company who made a part that went bad, however more times that not those fall through. Jason, if your friend needs some advice on what to do, send me a PM. I have been in the business 28 years, and in that time seen one person dropped from coverage. Three losses on a commercial policy in 12 months will do that to you though.

Can't find the article I read about it months ago, but here is a lot of what you need to know about it: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-02/hcj/feature/index.php Hope that helps.

Bet their prices are up there. Looks really nice though, I'll agree with that.

I've been keeping fish close to 35 years, and in that time I have had maybe 10 glass tanks break open for no good reason. In that same amount of time I have never had a problem with an acrylic tank warping, or busting a seal. The piece of mind alone for me makes spending the extra cash worth it. If a person is clumsy I wouldn't recommend acrylic, but in ten years I have put two small scratches in my 100. They aren't for everyone, but they are the best looking.

Yes it is not good as it can take over. If you can remove the rock it's on scrape it with something like a screw driver, or something sharp. If you can't remove the rock, start a siphon with a small hose or tube and vacuum the water around the spot as you scrape it all off. GL

I had just sent you a PM with NAGA's info. Curious what you mean by "seen what happens as it ages"? Mine is going on 10 years old and looks as good as it did the day I got it, less the couple of small scratches I put in it on moving some large rocks. Personally, I wouldn't own a glass tank. See the thread "Help" for one of the reasons.

I did the ASM G3 mesh wheel mod (many pics)
CHUBAKAH replied to extreme_tooth_decay's topic in General Discussion
Since it's been a while, I am curious if you guys still agree this is the way to go? I have a ASM 3 myself, but it has been running flawlessly since day one with no problems. I'm kind the type of guy who, If it ain't broke don't fix it. What say you? -
Agreed

No problem Maureen. TBH if I didn't have the quality shops like The Aquarium Shop, BRK, and Mr. Coral, EA would stand out in terms of fish and corals. Fact is I can be at Mr. Coral in 25 minutes, and the other two in less than an hour. It's just not worth the two hour drive for me.

They had some single head acans for 45 that had the same coloration as the blastomussa, of which they had about 5 colonies of all marked pretty good. I was there for two hours today, and scanned every inch of that place. If you have several heads, chance are you got blastomussa. The only micromussa I saw was one with maybe 6 or 8 heads and it was like a dark gray. Hope that helps.

Well I'm back from my road trip, and I had pretty good time. I got there right at 11 when they opened. They are well staffed in the way of personal, however at least two of them don't know much. After three people looking at a purple fire fish, the third one tells me it is something else and it was $125 bucks. Needless to say I walked away from that one. Some tanks are marked pretty good, while others don't have a thing marked on them, which is kind of a pain because no one other than Mark the owner seems to know the price, or at least that was how it seemed. They seem to also have a crap load of tanks that say not for sale, which to be honest was kind of a turn off for me. They do have quite a few fish in the place, but a lot of those are not reef safe, so unless you know your reef fish, better take a book with you, because chances are the staff won't know, or at least the staff I was dealing with. I'll just make one more negative remark, and then on to the positive. I found a Kole Tang, which was one on my list. He was in one of those "Unmarked" tanks. I went up to the owner this time to see if he was for sale. The guy standing next to him says "everything is for sale" which Mark replies, "No it isn't". We got to the tank and I ask, is he for sale which Mark replies, yes he is, but it's going to be a pain in the ass to get. He walks over to one of his guys and has him get him for me. He is a beautiful fish, but the comment through me. All in all the selection of fish is pretty good. The selection of coral is for sure better then average. I picked up Kole Tang, a cleaner Wrasse, and a sand sifting Gobie for $75 bucks, as they were having a 25% off all fish this weekend. I said to the guy helping me, looks like I came in on a good weekend. He said "we have that sale every weekend" Worth the two hour trip= Not really Would I go back= Nope I'd rate this place on a scale of 1-10 a 5. The shops in NOVA have me spoiled I suppose. As for Seasave, they just moved two weeks ago, so it wouldn't be fair to even comment. I didn't find anything there, and was gone in 5 minutes.

I'd think pure Oxygen would be a little excessive, however I have nothing to prove that. Wouldn't just simple compressed air work just as well. My thinking is that pure Oxygen would dramatically change the PH in the water.

Will do Maureen. I'm more in the market for fish today, as I have a lot of the corals I had on my wish list, but if you insist on me looking at the corals I will.

See you there Jeff For those curious http://www.exoticaquatics.com/ From the recommendation of another member here, I am also going to hit up Seasave www.seasave.net in Glenn Burnie on my way back.
-
It's about a two hour trip for me. Is it worth the drive? If I end up going Jeff, I expect I will be there around 11 when they open. Mark

Thinking about a road trip tomorrow. Anyone been there that can give some feedback.
-
Seen any prices yet?
-
I may just have to pick some up and see if I get any kind of noticeable difference, and report back. I don't feel as though my corals are looking bad at all, I'm just curious if it will make any kind of a difference. I'd really like to hear from someone that started using it after a long period not, and saw any kind of an improvement.
-
have you noticed any improvements in the corals, as in growing spurts, better coloration, etc etc?
-
Recently found out about this product [thanks Justin] and I was curious how wide spread it is amongst the members here. For those using this product, what have your results been?

I don't care who ya are. That's funny right there!

How Do You Quarantine Your Fish
CHUBAKAH replied to civitan.erichanson's topic in General Discussion
I ONLY buy my fish from LFS's who quarantine their fish. To date I have only lost one fish, and have had zero problems with any disease. Knock on wood!! -
It is Cliff. You still need to make a trip out one weekend!
