  1. I used fine sand in my setup, so no concern there. I also feel as though I am a lite feeder. Tonight was anemone, and elegance feeding night, so I found if I put a few fish on the sand, it gives time for them to consume the fish before the crabs take over. Well normally I see the sand dwelling creatures come up and get one or two, but tonight a couple of extra critters popped up. Where did you find, and what kind of trap did you have, or have?
  2. I got all of my rock from Dr. Mac, and as far as I know it is all Tonga Fusion. TBH I was going to try and get a pic of him, or her, but the son of a guns are pretty quick, and hide from me.
  3. The article goes on to say that these guys will attack corals. I have two unexplained corals that have been hit recently, and I have no explanation. The only fish I have read in my tank that even remotely attacks corals is my bi color blenny, however I hear that they can't really do any major damage. I think I may try the red light, and see what else lingers in the tank at night.
  4. Click for the whole story. That's their opinion, so what's the real scoop?
  5. Yeah, and I have to catch 4 of them. AT this point I really just want to catch the black domino. Every time I stick my hand in the tank it attacks me. I told my wife he's gonna taste good with beer batter on him.
  6. Is it from Boston Chicken, or KFC? YGPM
  7. Title says it all. I'd rather not buy one for a one time catch, if I can avoid it. Thanks in advance! Mark
  8. Been a while, don't you think class? Pictures, pictures, we need pictures! Bump to the top
  9. TBH This is the first I have heard of it. Where are you getting it from Cliff?
  10. If I'm playing devils advocate here, large tanks are much easier to manage apposed to smaller tanks. Sam, I like your thinking outside the box, and your attitude towards doing what hasn't been done, or at least doing what is perceived as hard to do. Obviously people are doing it, and the more that do, the easier it will become. When I was very involved in the Cichlid world, I proved many times that fish said not to do well in captivity, could be kept. If you have the means and the passion to follow through with what it takes, I say go for it. Just stay true to the hobby!
  11. IMHO, your taking a pretty large risk using a reptile tank as a fish tank. They are really not designed to be full of water.
  12. The smell is very minimal, and completely safe so long as you don't put it in the tank, or spill any.
  13. Ever use a commercial typer laser printer? That's the smell.
  14. Dave, There is a product you can get at either the Home Depot, or a paint store like Duron called "DryLok". It is intended for water proofing masonry, however it will work very good for sealing in framing as well. They also make a product for wood, however I have not seen it in stores locally. Hands down the best product of it's kind, and I believe it comes with a 15 year warranty. We seal basements all the time with it that have foundation moisture escaping, and it solves the problem. It is also mold resistant. NOTE: this product is quite think and will not cover as much area as regular paint, so make sure and read the coverage on the label. This product can also be painted over when you are done, just make sure to use a mold resistant paint! Here's a link http://www.ugl.com/drylokMasonry/masonryWa...oofer/latex.php
  15. (703) 726-1655 43150 Broadlands Center Plz, Ashburn, VA 20148 He's also got some killer corals in right now, as well as some attractive fish!
  16. I'm going to generalize here but most fixtures above T5 are for commercial use lighting. Not only that, but your going to have a heck of a time finding the bulbs that are designed to work with reef tanks if you move up. That may change in the future, but right now that's what you will deal with.
  17. Either of those are fine. The five stage is better.
  18. I went by tonight and saw Sean myself. He has some beautiful stuff in the store right now. Picked up a cultured torch myself to complete my list of euphoria corals. Best selection I have seen in his store ever.
  19. Well how else am I going to get private tank tours all over the place? It was my pleasure Lee, and I had a good time. The thread really wasn't needed, but thanks. Nice to meet you as well today Sean! PS Lee, is that RBTA ready? Thanks again!
  20. I use the Blueline 40HD-X , and while it's not exactly 1200gph it is very close considering any head pressure you may have. 40HD-X Specifications: - Inlet: 1" MPT - Outlet: 1" MPT - Max Total Head (FT): 13 - Max Discharge (GPH) @ 0ft: 1,270 - Input (W): 130 - Length(in): 10.5 - Width(in): 4 - Height(in): 5.5 $169.95 and it's been working perfectly since day one.
  21. My guess is as long as your water stays good, it will bounce back. I've had one for over a month I got from a LFS, and it really just started looking good the last couple of weeks. I have read they take a lot of time to acclimate. GL
  22. Wait, your a member here?

  24. This one is looking a lot like your's, only not quite as single colored. In fact if your's is bleached at all, this must be it.
