  1. I really wanted my display to be pristine clean, which means I wanted spotless sand first. I started off with crabs, and snails, and more snails. It just wasn't quite good enough, so I decided to get a sand sifting gobie. This guy is hands down the biggest mistake. He covers all of my corals on the sand, digs around them until he can bury them, and is slowly working his way around the live rock, which I feel is going to fall eventually. Why the stores would even sell this creature is beyond me. Needless to say, I am going to remove all of my rock, and corals this weekend to catch this guy, along with a few trouble damsels I have not been able to catch. Who else has a story about a livestock item you regret?
  2. It's all good Cliff. As soon as I saw the word "Bleach" used, it was all over.
  3. Mold remediation is not about applying , or wiping down something and expecting it to solve the problem. There are several steps which I'm not going to go in to here that need to be done, which the last is having an industrial hygienist test to get a clearance. [At least that's how the big dawgs play] The key however is to remove the moisture, which I will agree with, and I'm sure of you asked Ron, I was very detailed in explaining right up front.
  4. That is true in the "Testing aspect" of the business. The remediation end, not so much.
  5. Do NOT use Chlorine bleach to kill mold or disinfect moldy areas. It is not an effective or long lasting killer of mold and mold spores. Bleach is good only for changing the color of the mold and watering the roots of the mold. CHLORINE BLEACH IS INEFFECTIVE IN KILLING MOLD FOR THESE REASONS: (1) The object to killing mold is to kill its
  6. YGPM, I hold both IIRC, and IRC certifications in mold remediation.
  7. Thanks BRK, and WAMAS. I enjoyed the event as well as putting some faces with names. Good times!
  8. Shut off valve = angle stop, and in 28 years I have never seen one on a shower. If your home has good pressure, and the shower seems low, chances are it is at the shower head, and not in the mixing valve. Most everything out today is built with water conservation in mind, and they put restrictors in the head it's self. A lot of times you can simply unscrew the head and at the backside pull out the restrictior, or little plastic piece with needle nose pliers, and this will increase pressure 10 fold. If you do take that approach I also recommend soaking the shower head in some sort of cleaner like "Lime Away" which will remove a lot of the calcium buildup, and clear the needle holes. HF GL
  9. So I guessed wrong. In any case, if it is "ground water" it is never covered "UNLESS" you had a sump pump that did not work, or was defective, or couldn't work due to a power outage. Even then, some companies are turning down claims even in a power outage, because there are battery backup systems available to hook to those said sump pumps. Again, it's going to boil down to your adjuster with every company. The squeaky wheel in this business does get the grease a lot of times.
  10. Three inches huh? That's eatin size!
  11. Curious what your feeding it that you use a turkey baster? I know they will eat smaller stuff, but have read they do best with whole silversides.
  12. I'll be there as well.
  13. Keep us posted as to your results.
  14. You could use anything like that. Everything is built right in to the bulb. The question at hand however has still not been answered, and that I don't have the answer to.
  15. Standard light fixture
  16. Must have to have a certain number of posts, because I do not have that option.
  17. Where exactly is that option?
  18. If he won't tolerate between 78 and 80 then I guess I will have to pass. :( Looking for something small and red if you have any other suggestions.
  19. Glad to hear it! No that you lost your camera of course. :(
  20. Johnny, Any chance you can come up with a Catalina Goby by the weekend? I haven't seen one in any stores in the two months he has been on my list. Thanks
  21. Been there done that, and yes I agree that place is the bomb. Would love to have a social there, hint hint...
  22. Without even knowing the entire situation, you are talking about ground water right? You have or had a grading issue, and yes most, if not ALL insurance companies will require to have proper grading. Why would someone cover a home that has a problem just waiting to happen?
  23. Travelers Insurance Company SUCKS http://linda-sands.blogspot.com/2006/02/tr...pany-sucks.html YouTube - travelers insurance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVnqHLS15XI FRAUD AND RACKETEERING BY INSURANCE INDUSTRY http://graham.main.nc.us/~bhammel/ins.html State Farm is the #1 company for home owners insurance by a long shot when it comes to coverage. Can't wait to tell the people in my office that agents are telling people Travelers is #1. I'm sure that will get a huge chuckle.
  24. If you were to do a search on top 5 worst companies in the country, Travelers I bet is in the top 3, and there is much documentation. Not only do they not take care of their customers, they completely bend the restoration contractor over as well. If we had a choice of not working with them, we wouldn't. Unfortunately they are thrown together with several companies which create a "Program" That being said, I can promise you that this is the exception, and not the rule in the industry. State Farm, Farmers, USAA, CHUB, Allstate, and Encompass all take care of their customers for the most part, but you have to rely on your adjuster with each of these companies. It's just not as cut throat is being dropped for filing a claim.
