  1. In case anyone who does not know, most of the anemone naturally splits due to stress just like Bob, YBN, said. The effect of its splitting is to increase its/their chances of survival. There was an article on wetwebmedia.com that I remember reading, with a quick search on keyword "buble tip anemone split" or similar like that, for a friend about a year ago. Pretty well written article. It happened to me also about when I was still learning how to dose kalk. And I was excited back then to see it naturally splitted. Actually, it splitted into 3 different anemones within a week. All 3 survived well after. Did a few large water change shortly after and corrected the way of dosing.
  2. A sofa right in front of the tank to take a midnight nap sometimes.
  3. Oh boy, the maze coral and its surrounding corals are way..... too small comparing to Mike. What are those corals that look like large fingers btw?

  5. 83 is hot. Try to use a chiller or put a fan on top of your sump (if has one) or on top of your tank to help cool the tank. Good range of water temperature is to keep it constant and the range is: 76 - 80. 76-77 will keep the fish more less suseptible to disease, 78-80 is nice warmer water for the coral, I believe.
  6. Nice! Different! Especially the first frag.
  7. I hear Johnny is heading to FLorida Keys and Chris will surpass Byron's deal with Buy One, Get the Next Two at equal values Free!
  8. Try to get one with a drain-hose and get a water hose to plug in one end, the other end drop in your basement sump and never have to drain a bucket out daily like I do now. Will soon be getting a new de-humidifier also. Never ending story with this hobby. The list goes on......
  9. kh/dkh is the key to stabilize the PH. Once the kh/dkh is in between range of 8-12, it's pretty easy to raise/maintain the ideal calcium level + Mg level. I normally keep anywhere in between 380 - 450. This where IO salt works perfectly fine for the SPS with weekly water change to keep the phosphate + Nitrate level down. Weekly check Mg at its level (1250 - 1350) to help the SPS and coralline consume calcium to build its skeleton.
  10. Salifert for everything.
  11. IME, night shrimps: coral band, pepperminth day and night shrimps: fire, skunk/cleaner, sexy Coral band shrimp is a little bit territorial; however, if has large enough tank, all can live together.
  12. Chris' water parameter is just too good. No wonder all his corals seem to be happy everytime he takes pixes. Bob: Kent's solution also has Mg. in bottle. I dose them weekly and test my water just before dosing and a day after.
  13. That was a new echino morph that I have not seen anywhere and the owner forum name of cornebredtrash was not searchable on RC or google, so I skeptically not to enter the bidding freenzy. The eyes of this chalice is really big and unusual, with beautiful color pattern. His other chalices, bubble gum monster is pretty nice also.
  14. A new documentary 2008 by biologist -filmaker Rick Rosenthal documents billfish. The film about these fishes are pretty fascinating as these fishes live deep in the ocean. Rich spent his entirely life studying the billfish and finally the first filmaker able to make a documentary film on these mystical creatures. Showtime: Channel WETA - PBS and high definition WETAH WETAH 3-4PM Monday WETAW 7-8PM, 8-9PM, 9-10PM Tuesday
  15. I've been using one in the basement for the past 3 years. I don't turn it on during winter as the tank evaporated water helps humidified breathing air. The other 3 seasons, the de-humidifier is turned on and it helps to dry the moist air; otherwise, I see rusting metal around the basement quickly accumulated. In the basement, the total water managed volume is around 250 gallons from a combination of two tanks. The total water daily evaporated is about 4 gallons.
  16. This guy seems to have all the cherry pick chalices. Nice, different and just too pricey. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=002
  17. Beautiful tank, Chris.
  18. If you're not sure, take it out as well to be safe.
  19. Got one. Awaiting uncle Sam refund my tax return to get a Nikon D80 and then I can take pix to post along with thread to make it worthy for Mr. Rik. Rik: I haven't forgotten the pix for Chalice yet.
  20. She did a wonderful at matching the color. She must have been trained as an artist before, knowing how to mix color. Very nice tank comparing to when it was original purchased shape with broken brace, leaks, etc.... Trememdous work and improvements.
  21. Found that article for you Tee. Happy reading! http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-02/feature/index.php
  22. Try another one. I've had mine for 4 months now and he's all over top to bottom of tank. He is not afraid of big angel fish or small aggressive six liner wrasse. Yup, very nice yellow fish with lots of personalities for sure. My tank is an open top tank.
  23. I have a little ligth place on top of it that can give to her. Please PM me your home/office address and I'll ship it to you soon.
  24. Forrest, I have a hangon refugium if she would like to do that. I can ship it to you, free of charge. It's not doing anything and just sit in my basement. KLee
  25. Possibly part of this family, Dendronepthea. Carnation flower comes in many different variety of colors: red, pink, orange, white. The shape of the polyps/flower is depending on the color type of the carnation flower. http://www.marinecenter.com/corals/coralss...carnationcoral/ AQUACO currently has one in orange color. If Tee has more than 6 months and thriving, then it's not Dendronepthea and probably a cold coral. The carnation coral is a difficult coral to keep. Although, it's nonphotosynthetic, it's hard to care for because of its feeding requirement. Most just slowly thin out, slowly shrink to disappearance about 4-6 months after purchase. There was an article on advanceaquarist that posted under RC, two months back, if my memory serves me right. Very pretty colorful soft coral, abundant and not expensive on market. Just hard to keep.
