  1. The threads I have seen with people using levamisole have mixed reviews as far as coral health is concerned. For the sake of your corals, it might be best to try fwe. It might take a few treatments. Levamisole will work, but you might lose some corals. Either way, post your results.
  2. Do you have any livestock in the tank? Aefw or red planeria?
  3. It's searching for something. Assuming your water is in check, it actually looks to be reaching for light.
  4. You can also add layers of egg crate over the tank and remove one every week or so.
  5. What size tank is it? I know my black ice clowns would sometimes get a little rough when establishing dominance. But it was never to the point I was ever concerned. Sorry for your loss.
  6. It's very possible. It's possible they had already changed over. Did you get them from the same place? What other fish and inverts are in the tank
  7. That's funny. I wonder how often this type of thing happens near seal populations.
  8. Looks good! I have heard of the angels nipping after lights out when the lps open up to feed. Like you said, just monitor it. It could also just be adapting to it's new home.
  9. Be very careful with those xml's. I have 2 in my mix of whites. They are easily twice as bright as all the others. I am only running them at 700ma.
  10. I have been running a bb tank for a while and like coral hind I just put the rock in the glass. If you decide to use starboard, you would have to silicone it in to prevent detritus from getting trapped in the crevices between it and the glass. Once the tank matures, it will become covered in coralline algae.
  11. In the past when I would do a large water change, they would release these egg like sacks. Unfortunately, it was already too late for my tank. Dry it, burn it then bury it in the ground.
  12. I have and added in this order desjardin, yellow eye kole, blonde naso and a yellow. Also when I got them they were all in the 2" range. The yellow is the only pia sometimes. Since he is the lowest on the totem pole he is put in check real quick. My tank is actually very peaceful, but you can see the pecking order when algae is added.
  13. Trash the rock! Unless you would like your entire tank covered. They don't seem to kill anything. But, they can slow the progression of corals. My 120 is covered in them.
  14. It is possible it was doomed before you got it. They tend not to live to long without food. I don't know if it is tank bred, but wherever it originated from it probably had not had food till it reached your tank. Most stores and wholesalers, do not keep hair algae. It wouldn't be good for business if they did. It is an unfortunate part of this hobby. I'm not saying this is what happened in your case, but it's possible.
  15. I think there was a thread a few weeks ago asking about this. I have used it in my sps tank. No I'll effects were observed with any of the livestock. It might have killed a few pods and such. But fish, hermits, crabs, snails, serpent star, (inc. stomatella), fish and corals(sps, torch, favia, blue cloves:(, zoas and palys) seemed to be unaffected. Clear flatworms though, seem to be gone. I saw some in my sump from time to time. I noticed no change in coral colors and growth. However, internal parasites are gone. This is just my experience, yours may vary. I accidentally dosed double the recommended dosage by accident. Leave skimmer running to help with oxygenation, without collection cup.
  16. If you put the old membrane back in, does it do the same thing?
  17. Yes, I have in my sps tank. Some of the acros slimed a bit, but no damage to any corals or inverts I can tell. I did have some clear flatworms that were never seen again after treatment. All fish are healthy. Just make sure to leave skimmer on without the collection cup to help keep o2 levels up. Have water made for change after treatment. And carbon ready to go invade problem does surface.
  18. Thanks for the heads up. I needed to place an order.
  19. I hope you didn't put the rock back in the tank? Windex + reef = bad
  20. I always feel something inside, every time I hear about another one of our Troops being taken from us. These men and women, unselfishly willing to put their lives on the line so we can live the dream. Anytime I see a troop of past and present, I always make sure to thank them. Those that I can't thank, I hope they know what they do is appreciated by us. My sympathy goes out to his family and friends. People willing to sacrifice their lives for something greater, should always be looked at as national heros.
  21. I have a 75gpd membrane I just took out the other day. I only used it for 6 months, your welcome to it. Only catch, I'm in frederick.
  22. I think this might be it. Based off of the google results, which can be iffy at best. I think I will go with that for now unless someone gives more proof it is something else. Thanks everyone for your input.
  23. When I first got it, I attached to rock rubble via glue. I can't detect if it has grown to the rubble. It was actually brushed up against a rock and did not attach. The whole thing is very flexible and not rigid in any way. I seems to be free living, it grows just like a small bush. You are definitely welcome to some. I really like it because it is free standing and does not attach to anything else. I might actually start collecting similar types that don't aggressively attach to adjacent rock.
  24. Tangs definitely enjoy it. I am trying to ID it in case I give it out. I want to be able let them know what they are getting. I think the names that have been suggested seem close. When I look at the photos they are close but not exact. If anyone is coming near Frederick and wants some, to help try and id Lmk.
