  1. I think it is similar, you could be right. All the pictures I can find of the flame/dragon seem less dense and get the orange tips.
  2. Picked this up from another reefer about 2 months ago. It has more than doubled in size since. I can tell you it seems to take a long time for it to attach to a base and it grows pretty dense.
  3. I have used both and currently have one of each. I really like my BB tank and would do it again. I agree the the sand will give your pods, etc places to hide and thrive. I also feel that it will help in the nitrogen cycle. The most important thing I see it offers, it acts as a buffer. I have always struggled with ph in my BB. The other tank is right on par, where it's ph should be.
  4. How many fish are in there? I don't know what if any toxins are released by that species. Usually when they release "toxins", it is due to stress.
  5. When I set up my biocube about 4 months ago. I used a combination of microbacter and seachem stability. I still use them once weekly, but the results have been great. The only have to clean my glass once a week, and it is so minimal.
  6. I'm sorry, I should have clarified. I run 3 MP40's. I was refering to trying the vortech. If agree that rock work and placement play a big role in flow.
  7. I think that the jbj pumps might be fine for a smaller tank, but at 60" I don't think it wouldn't be enough. I run 3 on my 120 sps tank and have to turn the one on the back wall to about 60 percent. I would agree to try one, then upgrade as needed.
  8. How old is the skimmer? A few skimmers Avast pegleg Swc 160 cone Asm g3 Reef octopus There are tons of different skimmers in all different price ranges. I think any of the 3 would be a great choice. I think the idea of upgrading your sump would be necessary. I believe the avast skimmer should have the smallest footprint, if that is important
  9. I have one for a 1048, but it does look different. I think?
  10. Your not by chance on well water now? I know two people up here who are on private wells up here and have slowly been loosing sps after we had all that rain. One of them has even had his water sent in, and tested perfect.
  11. I don't shut mine down while feeding. I don't shut down my skimmer either. I don't know that I've read anywhere that says you should or shouldn't turn it off for feeding. But I personally have had no ill effects that I can detect from it being on while feeding.
  12. Are they royal blues or regular blues? I don't know if the stunners would be visible over your existing lighting. From the sound of it, you are missing some of the warmer spectrum(warm/neutral whites, reds).
  13. I was not aware they multiplied like that. I figured they just split in two. Thanks for sharing.
  14. I personally like the margarita snails. They don't get nearly as large as turbos.
  15. I don't, but I heard it's just the owner by himself now. I am sure he is a bit overwhelmed.
  16. It's amazing what modern science is able to accomplish. Your attitude is a great outlook on life. I hope that your recovery continues the path it is on. You will be an inspiration to a lot of people who have less challenging roads to face. Best wishes on a speedy and full recovery.
  17. Sweet! Thank you so much. I will post my results once I complete it. If your ever upto in the Frederick,md area Lmk. I would be willing to throw a few frags your way.
  18. I agree it could be done, but not ideal. That poor tang at Ricks, can barely turn around.
  19. If I read this right 21.6 is the minimum voltage. http://elcodis.com/datasheet.php?c=5395897&c_name=ELN30-24P&doc=237289
  20. I really appreciate you taking time with this. So if I get the eln-30-24 would I just wire them like the 3w crees. Would there be any special instructions like, minimum # led's, parallel, series, resistors needed, etc.
  21. Something like the 30-5? http://www.trcelectronics.com/Meanwell/power-supply-eln.shtml
  22. Thank you. I was hoping it would be as simple as the 3w crees. I appreciate the response.
  23. I plan on adding some uv led's to my biocube. I am not electrically intelligent enough to figure out. Can I run 6 1w uv leds on a meanwell 60-48p. If not then what type of driver can I use http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/component-leds/prolight-1-watt-ultraviolet-leds-140-degree-viewing-angle/334/1277/
