  1. no i am not. i dont know how to diagnose it truly and no one will come and look. i see white spots so i assumed it was ich
  2. i have been using kick ich for a few weeks but my fish are getting worse. my wrasse and my hawkfish are getting worse but no other fish are showing signs of illness. is this normal what should i do
  3. chromis tend to start at 5 or 15 and end up at one or two. i assume that is what he is reffering to
  4. my yellow tail blue damsel is great and i get no agression. he is my first fish. well that will help your bio load. to james that may have been true for you but i have a niger trigger and it doesnt even look at my inverts. i have had it for a month and a half. besides my wrasse seems to be the most efficient at dispatching snails. so i only have crabs now anyway
  5. wrasses of the halichoeres species. ie melanurus, radiant, checkerboard
  6. the only store i know that carries it locally is brk. shoot john a pm
  7. its more a function of the amount of live rock than the size of the tank. how many #'s of live rock do you have in your 55 gal? also if you dont have a refugium you can get one and culture pods in there as stated previously and replenish your fuge on a regular basis.
  8. what are your nutrient levels? nh4 no3 and the like.
  9. yea thats impressive i cant even think of that much to say
  10. how much salt is in there. usually if you put too much it wont dissolve
  11. dont know about aquarium one but you can call and ask. 301 294 3474. i am sure that brk has it if you feel like driving
  12. ill have to come and check it out
  13. power loads will be more of a problem then weight. i kept a 125 in an apartment with no sump. no weight issues arose but i had 3 or 4 power outages in the apartment from the metal halide lights. 3 x 150 watt lights
  14. i would agree with the space issue. i have a 180 and i am already planning an upgrade. my elegance is out growing the section of the tank that i gave it. i would say that if you are worried about growth be more selective with corals you have. and maybe get 20000k lights rather than 10000k lights for your corals .they wont grow as fast under the bluer light
  15. i am looking into dosing the 2 part without being around all day long. so i figure i need a dosing pump. should i get something like a aquamedic or the kent gravity doser
  16. i already went to brk saturday and got it. i am already seeing an improvement as no new fish have gotten ich. and it is starting to subside on my copperband. so i am beating it and staying on it. no one has loss there appetite so thats good.
  17. my maori wrasse is an escape artist every few months i find him in the sump. i lost him around monday or tuesday. i looked around inn the sump to no aveil. i was cleaning out my filter bag last night and he jumped out of the bag and fell in the sink. so i scooped him up and ran to the tank and he jumped out of my hand while i was running. i picked him back up from the floor and tossed him in. i didnt know if he would survive... five mins later he was swimming aroound looking for food as if nothing happened. also i have ich in my system right now so you would think that the stress of sitting in a filter bag would have made him a target but obviously not. he is tonka tough.
  18. yea i know i may just keep a pair of pipefish. what are the dimensions of the tank?
  19. how much sand do i need for a 6" bed in a 20 gallon high
  20. i agree with you the coral beuaty was a sweetheart to midnight but the yellow tang was a little more unpleasant and that constant battering plus the stress of a new home is what lead to his demise. i will however seperate the yellow tang from the new angel i get
  21. my yellow tang dispatched him after this post was made. since i didnt see any aggression or nipping i will attempt again with a better plan this time. i would say that if you want to do a pygmy angel there are others that are less likely than the midnight angel to nip like the coral beauty angel i have. more colorful anyway
  22. ygpm ygpm
  23. yea its like the ipod for fish geeks
  24. sweet ! better control and a bit cheaper
  25. i am getting some new lights today and wanted to know what is the best color spectrum for macro growth. is it 5100k or 6500k?
