  1. today i saw my pink spotted goby laying on the sand in a cave and the yellow tang swam over and started to pick at the goby's side like a cleaning behavior. is this normal? is he hurting the goby? the goby sat there and let him do it so i assume not but making sure
  2. extremely sensitive. sps water required and difficult to get eating. i would be afraid to get this fish online as it is very sensitive
  3. i have a book that i bought when i first started that had some info on this and i read a little before asking
  4. i found through some reasearch that i have two fromia starfish instead of one as i thought. has anyone had two of the same speciaes of starfish show aggression?

  9. i got a serpent star the other day and it was doing well and now its arms are coming off. i had this happen before but it would only be one arm not all. whats going on
  10. if you can stand to look at him he is an ok guy. though he would look better if he was taller
  11. well i know i dont want to drill. it seems the wavy seas may be best for that reason alone. i cant drill for a closed loop and i dont want powerheads so i guess oscillating flow will have to do
  12. so no one has a oceans motions that can comment
  13. well my goal is to banish powerheads while keeping good flow. from what i am reading it sounds like the OM 4 way might be better. i just want good flow for my corals
  14. i am trying to decide between an oceans motions 4 way and 2 wavy seas on a closed loop with a S. dart or barracuda
  15. i know they are bs. i just used them because i wanted to put up a pic. i realize they are much like crabs in that you cant trust them in general. i have been lucky so far. he will only be able to strike when they are sleep but he doesnt move around the tank. he stays in his cave even while my trigger sleeps
  16. http://www.aquacon.com/lobsters.htmlreef lobster
  17. i was thinking of adding 3 or 4 yellow tangs. would this be appropriate in a 180?
  18. i have a reef lobster in my tank that i believe was trying to clean my male anthias. either that or he missed when trying to attack him. doubt the latter as the anthias swam away upside down and happy. now all of my anthias are going in the cave. i didnt know lobsters do cleanings
  19. yea he's a great looking guy but his wife has one up on me
  20. of course bob! yours was the best
  21. i was testing the output and it registered nitrates before i changed the filters and now there is nothing. thanx john i will be sure to find out
  22. what i will likely do is replace it if it exhausts the media more quickly than it should. equipment upgrades dont leave room for frills right now but when i am done i will likely look in to it now that i can get it at brk. thanx for your concern.
  23. well there is still livestock. but i will miss driving all the way to manassas for water.
  24. thanx dan for all your advice and help. i feed all frozen so i guess that was contributing but now i rinse it so between the po4 precipitation and the phosphate media hopefully the only algae ill see will be corraline algae
  25. brk is carrying ro filters so i decided to try that first. i replaced all but the membrane itself with success. i also got the refillable one so thats a load off.
