  4. you may be right bob but it seems you are not confused. that is the answer i was looking for. thank you
  5. is this question to advanced?
  6. just as the title suggests they are on the same rock and i want to know if i should cut the paly off. is one coral a danger to the other?
  7. i pulled the coral out and pryed it out of the skeletal structure to make sure i dont recontaminate my tank so i am hoping i got it
  8. i tried to remove it and it popped and grew back so i will try again thanx
  9. i have one bubble on a frag i recently got and wanted to know how you kill one bubble when you know where it is?
  10. i went there for the first time yesterday after i left the tank tour and the thing i hated the most about that store is the toll i had to pay coming back to dc. next time i will take 70 when i go. that store is huge and has several nice display tanks. i would say adding more saltwater livestock would be the only thing they could do. some prices were higher than ive seen other places but thats true for every store which is why you have to shop around. bottom line i would only be out there if i am visiting my cmas friends but its a good store
  11. if you need any company while working give me a ring and i look forward to seeing your progress
  12. thanx guys i had a great time and the zero edge tank is beautiful
  13. so if i put these fish together i would be crossing my fingers? since some of these are somewhat expensive i would like to know whether others would risk it to get an idea
  14. i have a 5 in maori wrasse that is very peaceful and well fed and i would like to mix in a pair of flame wrasses a mystery wrasse and a scotts fairy wrasse in a 180 gal. any potential conflicts there?
  15. i assume the pump stopped working because i had a ca precipitation event. i soaked it in a 90/10 vinegar water mix and nothing. is there anything i can do other than replacing it? i see no evidence of ca deposits or even algae. the pump looks almost new
  16. thats what i thought which was the only reason i tried the change. i believe the amount changed because i was treating the nitrate problem. also i just changed my actinic lighting so that was prolly a factor and it all combined as my acans and most other non sps corals are doing well
  17. yea i gotta figure out what its gonna be with the new salt. but do people add other supplements that are known to be essential? i can just add more of the solution for those three
  18. well my mag is high above 1300 and alk is usually at about 9dkh but my alk tends to be high above 500 so i dont need more of that. i mean like trace elements and other things that people may add
  19. dan, what do you dose to make up for elements missed? also my ca tends to be about 500ish with RC salt. is IO salt high in ca as well?
  20. so if i want to switch back to reef crystals i should wait until i am almost done with the io salt and then mix them together in subsequent water changes progressively adding more RC salt and less IO till the IO salt is gone and then stick with RC salt?
  21. ok i will let the salt settle but i think i will switch back to reef crystals as it seems to make my corals happier. how should i go about switching back and how long should i wait before doing this
  22. i am having nitrate problems. it is at 25ppm right now which i believe is partly why my sps corals arent doing well and dying. i was doing water changes with my usual salt reefcrystals when i ran out. i purchased a box of io salt knowing that i had alot of water changes planned and i was using distilled water. so i have been using it and my nitrates havent been going down. i used the idea on marc levenson's site about dilluting and replacing the water as opposed to a standard water change. i was told that the salt change made things worse and that i should let the tank settle which makes since but what about the nitrates. what do you guys recommend
  23. id like to come and see what a well taken care of tank
  24. is it that a peanut worm?
