Sorry to hear. These gut punches from the hobby really hurt.

Yeah, this one hurts!

Dang brother, sorry to hear it.

BUT now I can officially say I have the nicest trachy this side of the Mississippi again.

In all seriousness though, I'm right there with you just growing out now, trying not to add.

You do....for now!! Lol. Might need to change the title back to SPS reef!

That's terrible.  I wonder if a root cause will become apparent over time.  It does seem like you had some infection that took out just the LPS.  For what it's worth I haven't seen any ill effects in my little tank from the stuff you sent home with me after adding it, but I don't have LPS either.  I have a tiny amount of SPS, ricordia, xenia, and zoas.

That's good to hear, this thing has pretty much passed and the rest of the corals look fine. It hasnt affected anything other than LPS at all.

Thanks man, yeah, sucks! Well, onto letting the tank run for a bit and try again with a trachy.

My custom dosing containers arrived from Lifereef today. What a difference! When I originally set aside 6” on the left hand of the stand floor I thought it would be for a controller board. As fate would have it this perfect setup just kind of came together. Really happy with it.

Nice!  It's really nice access to the dosing containers on the side like that without needing to wrestle them out of some narrow space.

Terrible photo of the WWC rainbow blasto, but, you can see the heads forming. There’s probably 8-10 babies now. About a months worth of growth.

Thanks! It was a weird episode in April. We had the bryopsis so I dosed the Flucanzole. Then when the dose was just about done, that thing hit and killed those LPS. Then I had a brief dyno outbreak, and then 2 weeks later everything was fine. I let the tank sit for 6 weeks and just watched. Everything was really doing great. In fact the only problem along the whole route was the LPS - the SPS and soft corals were doing fine. Strange, but the tank is firing on all cylinders now. I think the Florida live rock gives it an extra edge in resiliency.

Something cool I noticed today, a couple of urchins growing from the Florida live rock.

Mostly out of boredom, but also because I like to play with toys, and I like staring into the Florida live rock refugium, I got an Apex moonlight module and LEDs to mount over the fuge.

The kit:

It’s not as bright as the photo suggests. I do really like the plug and play aspect of the Apex Lunar Simulation Module. The lunar tables are built in and there’s nothing to program if you don’t want to. I’ve noticed the Ecotech app hasn’t done this and it’s something I’m trying to figure out. If they don’t have a lunar table then maybe a second module is the answer.

I put a blasto under my anemones and trachy where I feed the clowns, so it essentially catches a lot of leftover food. It's gotten about 20+ heads on it in just a few months, insane how fast it grows when it's fed daily.

Tanks looking awesome, as usual.

I'm having aggression issues with my fish and not sure what to do. There's a pair of ocellaris clowns. The female is pretty mean (she nips me when I put my hands in the tank and sometimes draws blood). There's also a bristletooth tang who is pretty aggressive towards other fish. They are weirdly cool with each other. I also have an algae blenny in the tank who survives due to his camo - the tang chases him around from time to time but he's leaving him alone more as time goes along. But everything else has been harassed to the point of death - 3 Banggais, a couple of wrasses. Not sure if there's anything I can do, or if I need to take out the clowns and/or tang? Any experience here?

You can try shifting some of the rock work around to reset the power dynamic. Or, add some rock and create tunnels and caves and to create escape paths and to break up line of sight, which helps to break off territorial pursuit.

Makes sense, only problem is my scape is all NSA and glued together rock, without much room to add. I do agree that when the coral grows in thick that will help.
