  1. Thanks! Maintenance is so much easier but you do have to culture fruit flies. Forgot the frogs:
  2. Also added a dart frog terrarium next to the tank:
  3. I seem to remember there was someone in the club who was building high-end stands? I'm looking for something furniture grade, a stand and canopy for a dart frog vivarium to match my aquarium stand. The stand was done by Midwest Custom Aquariums but I'd much rather get it from someone out here if they can do it. Any tips? Thanks!
  4. Thanks - thats been my experience. Without access to a band saw, I was wondering if a bone saw would work.
  5. Hey how did you frag the torch? I have an indo gold growing out of control and am trying to figure out a way to frag (maybe some sort of small bone saw?)
  6. Latest update….lost a few things due to an “unplanned alkalinity event”
  7. Thanks all. No anemones, but a lot of zoas, torches and other LPS, and SPS. Running a bit more carbon to try to get the slime out.
  8. Both my wife and I recently started getting a rash after having our arms in our tank…..I’ve been Reefkeeping since I was 10 and never got this. Happen to anyone else? Only major change is adding several new torches. We’re getting small itchy bumps that last several days.
  9. Looking good! Do you have aggression problems with the space invader?
  10. I've also lived in apartments/condos in Ballston for 10+ years (along the metro line with buried utilities). We lose power maybe once or twice a year for a few hours, as far as tanks go it's a non-event.
  11. Awesome! Are you adding fish? I am tempted to set up a tank with just this rock and let it grow to see what happens. I have a pretty cool pencil urchin from my rock in the fuge.
  12. I have a similar sized tank. Too small for a blue tang. I would scratch the mandarins unless you're pretty adept at feeding live food to them. I would also add the firefish first. I have a pair of ocellaris, komini tang, flame angel, one spot fox, six line, blue damsel, banggai, and a purple pseudochromis. It's about maxxed out and everyone is moderately aggressive so it balances out.
  13. Here’s what’s been keeping me busy. My wife was pregnant and laid up so I installed a home theater in the bedroom. Didn’t leave a lot in the budget for corals. Pro tip, never have home theater/hi-fi and reefs as a hobby! And then this happened!
  14. I had two bouts of dinos. Finally put a UV sterilizer on and that took care of it. Of course it affected a couple of the nice torches and lost 2. Never fails
