Something awesome happened this past week!!!

I normally don't enter giveaways because it always involve inviting someone to the group or pissing them off with all your spam. This particular one on Facebook was pretty simple, add your name and you are entered! I have been pretty bored lately with no work, so why not?

Well I won this awesome pack! Great ... I guess I need to add another tank :facepalm1:

Maybe lady luck is still with you. Get some lottery and if you win, I'll take a small donation
Lol ... I always believe that if God wants me to win the lottery, he will have one drop near my feet without buying

I initially wanted a lagoon style tank to grow mangroves and a bed of zoas/mushrooms, but after seeing a great price on a 40B from a local WAMAS member, I couldn't resist. It still worked out well. Once things grow in, I think it will be decent (???). At the end, I didn't move the mushrooms over and stuck with zoas and blastos. This tank is plumbed to an existing "softies" system.

Congrats on winning something! I never win anything either, so maybe I'll get my comeuppance one day!

Thanks! You should rigged that random.org thing. Nothing is really "random". I doubt that site uses a secure random function.

I'm kidding btw

I recently secure a KH Guardian from @NamReefs after seeing them working for @gws3 , I was quite excited to see they do for me.

I have to admit, it was frustrating at the beginning and the Chinese instructions did not help. Took me over a week to sit down and try to set it up.

The first couple of days was a mess. The instrument would work and fail over and over.

Thankfully, Alex Lin, a co-founder was extremely helpful on Facebook to help.

After doing days of things to try and figure out the issue, I ended up sending to Alex to get fix. I just had to pay for the shipping there and back.

If you like tinkering with equipment, this might be for you.

It seems to be working quite well now after I received it back from Alex.

Why do I chose this over other brands? I don't like to be dependent on the company for solutions. After seeing the shortage seen from the Trident, that is not something I care to deal with. Graham's post on making his own solution made my decision much easier. The price at a bit over $500 for a new unit is pretty decent also.

So far so good for me! I like the ease of use (after the initial headache) and would probably buy another.

I am up a bit late and decided to take some pictures of the current corals in my frag tank.

I had a crash and continuous issues with acropora since the beginning of the year.  With completely loss of majority of my colonies to random loss of frags (tenuis), things are starting to settle down. I shut down my GFO reactor that I started a few months ago and that seems to slow down the STN of my tenuis.

Unfortunately, I lost a lot of my sps half to my neglect and the other to a month of illness in March. I did take a break from sps and delve into the other beauties (mushrooms) but for sure my love will always be with the sticks. The only good thing about this whole ordeal is .... I HAVE MORE ROOM TO BUY MORE CORALS :facepalm1:

I hope the entire WAMAS community is staying safe and I cannot wait for the next meet up. I miss everyone!!!

Hope all is well with you now.  The colors look extraordinary on those sticks.  Any pics of your new mushrooms?  I bought a Sunkist Bounce a few months ago and now it looks like I have been bitten by the bounce bug lol. After getting a PZ Godspawn and Frankenstein I told myself no more until Christmas.

Thanks!

I didn't like mushrooms much either until I got my first one from gws3.

Here is a couple of new and old ones. Most have no names but I like the way they look.

Wow, it's been a while since I updated this. I am over the mushroom phase. Went all in and got bored quickly. I only keep a couple now. One is a HUGE one I got from Eric and the other from Mok-Yi. The Red Sea E500 is doing well. Finally back to full vibrancy from the mini crash last year. I am still focusing on bringing out the colors of some of these SPS. The nutrients continues to be high (Nitrate ~25, phosphate 0.7), but I am currently trying out the Tropic Marin NP from using NoPOx. Will see how it does long term.

It has been a while since I updated this thread!

A lot has happened. The husband and I decided that we want to get a new home that fits our needs a bit more.

He wants a workshop for all his manly needs (building/welding) and I want a better layout "fish room".

So yes, we are moving so I can get a better fish room . Oh and the dogs want more room to run.

The hunt began back in October and the market is definitely not a buyer's market at all. Either way, we are moving and I just want to document some prep work and build up.

On black Friday with $10 off each, I decided to pick up some of these guys:

May be an image of indoor

50 gal each.

STEP 0:

Set up temporary holding for all the livestock I currently have while we update the current fish room.

Possibly up to 6 months holding while the current house gets updated to be sold and the new house gets set up for the livestock.

Why 3 - 50 gal and not a big one? I have a lot of fish that can't he housed in one tank at the moment (i.e. multiple clown pairs)

Setup will include 3 tanks all plumb into 1 sump.

May be an image of text that says 'x 3 setup Sump 2x4s Lights 1 Drain/Return'

After getting opinions, I was advised to stay away from the bottom drain and consider an alternative to the wood base.

No description available.

Wish me luck!

Hope to clean out the basement and this this buddy up in January!
