how is the weather looking? They ready for rain?

The weather is warm and humid. The hurricane is well to the west, so no real impact yet.

The conference starts tomorrow. Exhibitors finished setting up their booths today to be ready for the doors to open at 10 AM.

Tonight, we're at the 2017 VIP party at a nearby bar that features a bowling alley. Things have quieted down quite a bit as people mingle and enjoy the company of old friends.

Tickets for the 2018 show in Las Vegas went on sale today at www.macna.org This time around MACNA traditionally features the lowest priced full conference ticket available. e11e0104234228741ee4e40340e7ce97.jpg

Wow. That bowling alley is looking swanky with the brick.

In the words of Frank: "Is all you guys do eat? I've only seen pictures of food, not a single coral or fish!"

Unique Corals is here, too. I've seen our last speaker, Joe Caparatta, a couple of times already.

Jebao is here, too.

Awesome! What's the story with the LiveAquaria salt?

What would you like to know? I'd be happy to ask Kevin Kohen....

Sorry for the bumpy video. I was trying to make it through most of the exhibitor floor before the doors opened for MASNA members and rushed a bit. I didn't know that the pace would result in a video that'd give you vertigo!

I'm just getting back from the Friday night reception. It was held at a place called "Mardi Gras World" on the Mississippi - just around the corner from the convention center. After a traditional Mardi Gras street parade (complete with motorcycle police escorts), we entered what appeared to be a warehouse with all these huge foam figurines (sort of like Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade balloons) all around us. As we walked in, we were handed a complimentary Hurricane mixed drink and proceeded back to an area that, while indoors and air conditioned, was made to look like we were outdoors under the stars and among trees in the bayou. Pretty cool. The food lines got a bit long, but it was still a great time.

The hurricane off the coast of Texas is far enough west that we've not seen any effect here. No rain at all, but we are experiencing pretty high humidity. That could just be normal, though, for New Orleans.

One thing I can say is that the food here has been great. Somebody told me that it's hard to get a bad meal here and I'm beginning to believe it. If you're a foodie, New Orleans should be on your list of places to visit.

It's the end of Day 1. Looking forward to what's in store on Day 2.

I was curious as to what it mixes up as parameter wise. I imagine of it being given some award for best new product had me curious when there wasn't any readily available info on it.

It seems as if that info was released in some additional videos.  Here's what I got from a variety of sources:

  • Alk: ~9 dKH
  • Ca: 440 - 440 ppm
  • Mag: 1,350 - 1,400 ppm
