Hello, I was wondering if anybody had a pump recommendation for a low flow high head pressure application. Specifically, I am looking to push a small amount of flow through a quick disconnect tubing from my basement to my living room. I estimate about 8 feet of height pressure not including pipe loss. I don't want a lot of flow though as my return is going to be 3/4 tubing.

Jabeo DC-6000. You can clock it down with the included control since it is a DC pump.

 

 

+1 on the DC-6000.  I love mine.  It is quiet and controllable. 

 

 

What is the reliability on these pumps? How long have you been running it? Any idea what the step size is in gph for each of the 6 settings? 

Ditto plan on getting same pump....I believe the newest version..dct-6000 has 10 settings as well as a few other changes

No clue I just got it. I run it at full blast since I have a full siphon. It isn't enough flow actually for my 1" full siphon drain I have to close off the gate valve of the drain a bit to achieve equilibrium. About a 6' head height with a couple of elbows.  I am thinking of upgrading to the 9000. Pump is great though slow start is a good feature and very quiet.

6000 at 8' of head wont be pushing much. I'd be hesitant to rely on a single knock off pump. A pair of them would provide redundancy and make me feel a lot better about trying something that hasnt proven it's reliability.

Mag, Eheim, and Rio have all been around a long time and are proven workhorses.

"We never did that when I was growing up! What's wrong with kids today!" - Maybe if Jabeo had doubled the price they would get more acceptance? lol. I'm happy they didn't. I don't know anyone that has one that isn't satisfied. Pumps are surprisingly simple there isn't much that can fail.

I dont personally know anyone that is running one but I have read a number of threads regarding problems with them. Additionally, you're relying on data from a less than ethical manufacturer when it comes to flow rates as I havent found any independent test results. To push the rated flow you're at 100% duty factor as well. I'm not saying it wont work, cant work, or will work. I just wouldnt trust the well being of the ENTIRE system to a single unit. It has nothing to do with the price and everything to do with the company that produces it (from a business practice alone). There are areas to try saving money and there are areas you'd be crazy to do so, I believe this to be one of those areas. You know what they say about opinions though...

 

If this pump wasnt directly responsible for exporting waste and importing clean water, heating (typically) said water, and promoting the vast majority of oxygen exchange within the system it would be story. 

I love my jebao pumps. I have ever had one fail. Either a return pump or wave maker. Have had 7 in various sizes. Using a dialed down 12000 as my return at the moment.

 

There are other manufacturers taking Jebao's guts and repackaging them like deep water aquatics BLDC series, Aqua medic, and wads more.

So I purchased the jabeo 12000 dct....I will let everyone know how it works.....ideally I was looking for a DC pump to have greater control over the flow rate....ime pumps do not act linear at high head pressure, which makes it difficult to manage flow rates....I also have a mag 12 or 18 that I can use as well if needed. This pump will be used for my zero edge tank that is only 20 gallons.....I will get a tank build thread up soon.....

Just catching on to this thread. 

 

When you say "small amount of flow," what do you mean? Also, what size is the tubing that you're going through from the quick disconnect? If the flow is really small, did you consider using a peristaltic pump?

I thought about this, but felt that the flow was a little too low for my application.....also, I would run this continuously and was afraid that the tubes would wear out quickly.....
