JR-Tanked150 November 7, 2013 November 7, 2013 What is or was the coolest saltwater live item you have owned or had in your tanks? Ours was all time ago had a red tile sea star.
lutz123 November 7, 2013 November 7, 2013 I will have to think on it, but every time I see your avatar I think it looks like a mud monster. I honestly never saw the snail at first.

Piper November 7, 2013 November 7, 2013 Trifecta of mated Crosshatch triggers, flames and tinkers. Was years ago. Unfortunately had more dollars than sense and lost the tank. Will do it again someday. Hopefully soon. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk

Piper November 8, 2013 November 8, 2013 And when you do I will be at your house everyday! I really should get serious about my tanks. I only have the one, but have a plan for three more, total of over 1000 gallons and never seem to set aside a budget for them. I have a great connection in HI that can send me my livestock next time. The guy I used to buy from died tragically on a dive. I'm still in contact with a friend of his though. When I do it, I want to do the full Hawaiian aggressive deal, dragon eel, xhatches, probably declivis this time instead of tinkers, some other large items, probably a chevron. If I'm going to do the overnight from HI to the east coast, need to do it right once.

Piper November 8, 2013 November 8, 2013 Do you have any pictures of it? I had a look earlier. All I could find quickly were pics of the current tank. Must be some somewhere, but don't know where.
Swimboy123 November 8, 2013 November 8, 2013 (edited) My favorite item isn't livestock, it's an ozone generator. There are many arguments as to whether or not they have a difference in a reef system. What I can tell you is that I seem to produce more and thicker skimmate, my polyp extension is better, my water is clearer, and my livestock seems to be a bit happier. At one point, I was considering breaking down my 375+ gallon reef and sold my current ozone generator to another WAMAS member. He had it for about 2 months and during that time I experienced a severe degradation in water quality, coral growth, and general reef health on all accounts. I was able to acquire my ozone generator from this WAMAS member after a short while and I'm glad I did. After this period, I decided to re-invest myself emotionally and physically in my reef and was able to re-acquire my ozone generator. From the point that I reactivated the generator in my system, I experienced a distinct change in water quality. The first indication was having to clean my skimmer 4 times within 3 days. There was no change to any other parameter in my system but the addition of the generator immediately began to pull more DOM from my tanks. They are a bit expensive and even if they have the placebo effect, I will never run another system without the additional benefits of ozone. That's my two cents.... mling November 8, 2013 November 8, 2013 Red Leaf Scorpionfish It really does behave like a leaf, blowing in the wind. It you did not know better, you would think it is sickly, about to die.
harticus5 December 11, 2013 December 11, 2013 Diamond goby. The hardest worker of my tank. Agreed.... Bluezoo shipped me 1 of these on accident about 6 weeks ago.....BEST SAND SIFTER OF ALL TIME...............Its unbelievable how much sand these guys move! Tunnels and dunes everywhere!!! Now he has finally made himself a home underneath 1 of my rocks.... The only issue is now I have to get a frag rack....... to many coral frags get buried otherwise! Also slightly annoying seeing a cloud of sand come up once in a while (to much sifting!) ps.....my favorite is my 4" blue hippp (he swims in my hand, even when I'm not feeding.....truly amazing experience) And I see him sleep almost flat on the same rock every night.
Orion December 11, 2013 December 11, 2013 Yellowhead Jawfish So much personality. Lives in and out of his den built of sand and snail shells. Before the lights go out at night he uses a big shell as a roof, and covers the entrance.
L8 2 RISE December 11, 2013 December 11, 2013 Favorite animals I've kept: cuttlefish, eels, and snails.

Sharkey18 December 12, 2013 December 12, 2013 Mine was my Snowflake eel, Unagi. He would play in my fingers, curling around them and just hanging out. He jumped.
