YHSublime September 16, 2013 September 16, 2013 So I finally got my Apex up and running. OH BOY! I'm further than I've ever gotten, so bear with me. I have an Apex Jr. with the 4 bar, and an 8 bar attatchment. I've plugged the following in: DC6000 pump Heater Skimmer ATO I took the first 4 buttons accross the top of the browser layout and just turned them all automaticly to on. Once I got setup on my Macbook, I spent the next hour or so turning the 4 things above off and on, like a child who had discovered something new. So now that I'm this far along, I guess I'll ask some questions for those of you that know and aren't sick of hearing Apex questions. You'll note that everything is labeled wrong (DC6000 says it's a Light_I1, Heater says it's a Light_I2 etc.) Should I change these through the web interface, or should I mantually moved the plugs into the appropriate ports? My 8 bar is not plugged in, however, it is attatched via USB. Is that whats showing up for the bottom buttons? I heard it was best to use the 4 bar on the Jr. first before starting to program the 8 bar. What is a good basic script to have my heater shut off when it hits 79F? You'll notice that my temp is a little high. And most importantly, now that i'm this far, is there some sort of trophy or ring?

YHSublime September 16, 2013 Author September 16, 2013 Lol, but CONGRATS! The thought of this entire process gives me hives... Thanks. It's gratifying enough to be able to turn things on and off from across the room. Now I really want to get it tuned, so I can get it on my phone, and e-mail alerts, as well as hook a camera hooked up. I just want to make sure everything will stay on while I add a month long learning curve.
sachabballi reef September 16, 2013 September 16, 2013 ok I am no guru LMFAO but definitely rename all your outlets to what they should be and how you want them to read.....
sachabballi reef September 16, 2013 September 16, 2013 oh...and BTW I am very proud of you for doing this!!! Believe me its incredibly overwhelming but once you get like one or two things on there and can look at a graph of your temp and ph its addicting....and you will be off to the races.....
YHSublime September 16, 2013 Author September 16, 2013 ok I am no guru LMFAO but definitely rename all your outlets to what they should be and how you want them to read..... I just hooked up to the phone (which is still just through my wireless network) and turned everything on and off from my phone, so cool. If I go to re-label everything (instead of just switching the outlets around, which would really be obscure) will I change anything except the name?
sachabballi reef September 16, 2013 September 16, 2013 well you change the name (they are just labels) but you do need to make sure that you refer to the name when you program...but if you are just screwing around just rename them whatever you want and plug them in.....if you have low draw items make sure they go into the high draw outlets (top of my head I want to say 4 & 8)....so dosers etc...
sachabballi reef September 16, 2013 September 16, 2013 i honestly cant believe you and I are having this conversation...who would have thought after sitting and staring at these things for so long we would actually be able to talk about them...LOL
hypertech September 16, 2013 September 16, 2013 There are basic settings for most generic things you should set how you like it. For example, set the temp for the heater, the schedule for the lights, etc. once you get the hang of it, you can switch over from the built in functions to advanced for your own programming (more of a script language really) and make it do just about anything you want.
Origami September 16, 2013 September 16, 2013 Congratulations! It's about time. :-D Sent from my phone

I thought I was going to have the most expensive under stand decoration, no longer. There are basic settings for most generic things you should set how you like it. I'll poke around tonight, and hope everything is still turned on. Next step is going to be getting e-mails. Bout time! Lazy. Congrats to you Sir. LOL Congratulations! It's about time. :-D Sent from my phone dude. kudos. Thanks all. Yeah, I know, about time. It's one of those things, like everything in this hobby, that starts as daunting, and turns into "Oh, that wasn't so bad..." I guess I'll figure it out first and see. I've got a skimmate locker and a breakout box I've got to figure out....
AlanM September 16, 2013 September 16, 2013 Thanks all. Yeah, I know, about time. It's one of those things, like everything in this hobby, that starts as daunting, and turns into "Oh, that wasn't so bad..." I guess I'll figure it out first and see. I've got a skimmate locker and a breakout box I've got to figure out.... Plug breakout box in to head unit. If sensor from skimmate locker has the DIN-9 round connector you'll need to cut it off and put two bare wires into the breakout box. I don't remember which colors. I can tell when I get home. Otherwise if you don't have any other switches you can put the round connector right into the Apex and sense on Switch1. If it's closed the locker is empty.
AlanM September 16, 2013 September 16, 2013 By the way, it will be fun to get it all set up just in time for the new firmware is released that will totally change how it's used. 8)

sachabballi reef September 16, 2013 September 16, 2013 When is release? I don't want to download beta right? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 4
AlanM September 16, 2013 September 16, 2013 (edited) Not sure when release is or if there's a beta download. It's called Apex Fusion. Edit: Release mid-November, apparently. Edited September 16, 2013 by AlanM
YHSublime September 17, 2013 Author September 17, 2013 Congrats! Haha, it's actually super basic, baby steps. That's really bragging about figuring out 1+1=2
