lnevo July 22, 2013 July 22, 2013 Since cats do eat fish. It seems a natural method of cycling and an integral part of the ecosystem. I think you should just add more live rock to accommodate the additional bio load.
zygote2k July 22, 2013 July 22, 2013 Ohhhhhh so wrong! I wonder why it decided to start doing that? Welp....guess the need for a door or something to block kitty from being evil again....and I surprised Rob hasn't chimed in on this....see Rob...pee does nothing for the tank!!! Ask and ye shall receive: Actually pee does help the tank but only in the initial phase to introduce an ammonia source. Funny about the cat though.
gmerek2 July 22, 2013 July 22, 2013 with that big of ammonia and nitrates spike I think it was a # 2 did you feed the cat any tracers (corn) before the incident? if not the # 2 would be undetectable. bad bad kitty cat some spankinz are in order
hawkfish01 July 22, 2013 July 22, 2013 Ohh sooooooo wrong!! Glad mines a cat free house..because my whippet would think of a squeaky toy!!8)
sachabballi reef July 22, 2013 July 22, 2013 So how did you figure it out? Did you catch it in the act? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
Happyfeet July 23, 2013 Author July 23, 2013 So how did you figure it out? Did you catch it in the act? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 Yup, otherwise I'd still be in the dark and doing huge water changes every day.
Happyfeet July 23, 2013 Author July 23, 2013 Well here is the aftermath, spent some time today pulling the dead corals out, left a couple bleached corals in that looked like they might have a little fight left in them. Overall it was a loss of 60-70%
Happyfeet July 23, 2013 Author July 23, 2013 was it just sps that you lost? I lost a lot of LPS as well. It was mostly a SPS/LPS tank
Jason Rhoads July 23, 2013 July 23, 2013 This is probably the funniest "tank crash" thread I have ever seen. Sorry for the losses, but thank you for sharing this tale of woe and making my day
sachabballi reef July 23, 2013 July 23, 2013 Lol it really is incredible..... I have to say that's a much better story than a heater breaking....I mean I can't ever imagine your scream when you caught the cat in the act....
surf&turf July 23, 2013 July 23, 2013 Kitty would be outside, limp or no limp. When your ready for some sps frags let me know.
