wardragonet January 11, 2013 January 11, 2013 I went today for the first time, its spooky thought someone welding a chainsaw was gonna pop out but they had a nice selection, I snapped a few pics, they actually had a flame hawk I may get seemed a lil washed out but might give it a try Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
smallreef January 11, 2013 January 11, 2013 WOW>. what an eclectic mix... who in the heck is going to buy a full grown remora??? and that dragon eel is freaking AWESOME!
xabo January 12, 2013 January 12, 2013 You have to look beyond stuff like algae at Roozens. There are many gems there. Literally..........About 5-6 years ago they had 3-4 Gem Tangs there.
trockafella January 12, 2013 January 12, 2013 hmm! pretty dirty tanks though! probably not actually. that system is so established its probably better than most peoples tanks and any other store. just bc they dont worry about being 'pretty' doesnt mean its dirty. Lots of the lfs have nice clean floors and glass, with an awful selection and half of them have ich etc...
Jan January 12, 2013 January 12, 2013 Just about as dirty as an ocean, minus the plastic, cans, etc... hmm! pretty dirty tanks though!
DCReefer1964 January 13, 2013 January 13, 2013 (edited) I visited Roozen's today. As stated he had some awesome selections, and good prices. Yes a little housekeeping would not hurt, as far as prices I can't say anything negative about them. I have purchased corals there that I could frag 3 - 4 times, and would still have a nice piece for myself. Not pretty, but fair IMHO. Edited January 13, 2013 by DCReefer1964
BaySailor January 15, 2013 January 15, 2013 Not pretty, not fancy, but great prices and diversity of stock. Both Jas and his brother Eric are quite knowledgeable about reef tanks esp. when it comes to the compatablity of various animals with each other. Eric's had a tank at home for years, although Jas handles the aquarium section of the store. Have never had a problem with a coral or fish that I can recall. Also, these guys will buy just about any coral frags you have of reasonable size and for a decent price. They give me $5 per stalk of Xenia...Well worth checking out.
ohaverd February 21, 2013 Author February 21, 2013 Finally broke down and took the trip there yesterday during lunch. Just as previously stated... Dirty, but a great selection of fish. They have 3 purple tangs right now but I'm still not letting myself buy one yet. I made myself a promise not to buy an expensive fish until my tank is at least a year old.

ohaverd February 21, 2013 Author February 21, 2013 (edited) 155, they were about 3" long. they looked healthy too, and were eating whatever was floating in the tank. I was in casual business attire and accidently left my government laniard around my neck. maybe go in there with a mechanic shirt and get it for 100 lol. Edited February 21, 2013 by ohaverd

jimlin February 21, 2013 February 21, 2013 haha. you can probably just talk to them about the price. you never know, they seem like really nice people.
xabo February 24, 2013 February 24, 2013 Picked up a 5"-6" Black Tang yesterday for a very good price.

08can-am February 25, 2013 February 25, 2013 I would love a black tang but not sure how it would do with my purple. Nice score
ohaverd February 25, 2013 Author February 25, 2013 Picked up a 5"-6" Black Tang yesterday for a very good price. nice, I didnt see that guy when I went, I must have missed him... When you get him nice and acclimated post us a pic!
Jan February 25, 2013 February 25, 2013 (edited) I really like Roozens. Better diversity you wont find anywhere else. Thye've said to me "the ocean is not clean". They're right! Are their tanks dirty or have they just gotten it right? All they have is a skimmer on their system. Their gorgonians always have full polyp extension and their acans are always nice a full with no dead spots. Know what you're buying. Do your homework before you stop by. Check prices, high and low, beforehand as well as proper care of whatever you're interested in purchasing. Review pictures of various diseases as well as signs and symptoms. Have your IPhone charged and internet ready to check on those impulse "must have" buys. Haven't been there in a while. It's time.. Oh, and don't forget to have a QT ready when you bring that gem home. Edited February 25, 2013 by Jans Natural Reef Foods
