So, as I've mentioned here or there in the forums, I am moving to Virginia Beach in December to start a new job in early January.

My wife and I are closing on our new home next week and after I build a tank shelf, maybe stand (that's for a different thread), and get a few things ready next weekend, I'll be ready to move the tank. So I figured I would put some feelers out and see who I can get to help me.

I'm planning to do this in the morning / afternoon of Saturday, 12/22.

All I'll need help with is breakdown, prep for the new setup (I am going to swap my current sump and current DT, which will take some drilling, removal and installation of baffles, and misc. other prep), and loading the truck at my home in SW DC. Likely it will only take 2-3 hours or less and I will be prepped and have things choreographed to the best of my organizational abilities (will post my "move flow chart" if anyone is interested :)

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!

Changed the date to just 12/22

I'll do my best to help you out, Chad. You've given a bunch to this community. It's the least I can do for you.

Thank you very much everyone! You can bet that I'll still be around on the boards after I move... Plus, it's almost 100% that I'll be back in DC in just a few years :)

I changed the topic title and think I'll go ahead and just plan for 12/22 (thanks anyway, Jon!!) since that'll be the easiest date to accomplish the move and it will give me plenty of time to prep the other side.

Im out of town that weekend, but if you need help any other time let me know and ill do my best to get down there.

Chad, wish I could help but aside from being busy I'd probably just sabotage your move and glue everything in your place down so that you couldn't move. I can picture it now...

Chad: "Honey? Why are all of our clothes epoxied to the floor?"

Jason, thank you. I will send out contact info a week or so out when I have times, stuff prepped and everything ready to go.

Dave, you can epoxy any clothing left in the place... The movers will have cleaned us out and delivered everything but the tank to our new home by that point... Besides, you have a whole crew to help out - we can put them to work and wear 'em out :)

Besides... I'll be back in 3-4 years anyway.

Working in the morning that day but if it ends up being later in the day, may be able to help. Just let me know exact times when you know more.

Roni, will let you know... I don't know for sure, but right now, I'm thinking a mid-morning start so I can get done in VB at a reasonable hour... But I'd love to have you, I'll let you know!

Thank you!

We're leaving for Va Beach in 12/21. Let me know if you need me to take anything down for you and I'll try to make room for it in the truck.

Or if you need some help down there over the weekend I may be able to lend a hand.

Brian, I'd love to have a hand on the other end!

I think the other end will go pretty quickly and be a bit easier than the DC side since everything will be closer (mostly garage build and I can just pull the van to or into the garage).

Tentatively, it will probably be 4-6 pm and all I'll really need help with is moving the tanks into their locations. Everything else I can handle on my own.

If you can help on that end, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Right now plans allow me to be available the morning of 12/22. Do you need more hands?

You'll be in VB on 12/22? I put it on my calendar but give me a call. I have a broken ankle but I'm hoping to be in decent shape in a couple weeks.

Rob, I'll take all the hands I can get since there will be something on this side that needs done: cleaning equipment off, drilling holes in glass, installing bulkheads in a new sump, loading the truck, and some related items like patching the holes in the ceiling where I was hanging the light, etc. I've working on putting a plan together to make it as smooth as possible, but I am positive I'll use every hand that's offered :)

Brian, yep, as soon as the truck is loaded up (hopefully NLT 12-2) - it should just take less than three hours on the DC side (planning on a 10 am start) - I was going to drive to our home in VB and set everything back up. Most of that will be a one-person job and I'll just do the vital plumbing and life support immediately then everything else the following day. The only part that I think I'll need help with is placing the tanks on stands (all of which are somewhat small at 60, 75, and 3 @ 30 gallons). The distance will be <20 ft and all but one (the 75, which will go up two steps and be <~30 ft) will go into a cabinet that I'm making this weekend in the garage.
