Hello I am new to this forum.

I have had a 55g Fresh for years. A friend we getting a 265g tank and sold me his old 120g. I decided to go Salt with live rock/substrate.

I have:

mixed water and salt in tank and let circulate with heaters (set at 90) and blowers

Added API Quick start (1 bottle)

Added live sand

Week 2:

Added 3 damsel fish (Sorry this was before I knew how to do it humanely)

Added 20 lb Live Rock

Levels not high

Week 3:

Added 30lb Live rock (with bristle worms, dwarf brittle star fish, and APTASIA

Added 10 Chromis

Added 6 Hermit

Added 4 peppermint shrimp to tackle the Aptasia

Levels slowly started to rise and get higher... ... ...

BOOM -- -- Levels went to zero

Week 4:

Added 4 Ocellaris Clownfish

Added 2 Cinnamon Clown Fish

Took back Damsel (too aggressive)

Added 6 Snails (2" to 3" in size (each))

Week 5:

Added some more LR

Week 6:

Added more LR with Coraline Algae

Week 7:

Added 2 anemones

Week 9:

Took a vacation to the OBX in NC.

Week 10:

Added two Anemones and added screen around power heads to NOT GET FUTURE ONES CAUGHT IN.

Week 11:

This week...

Levels are still ph-8.1 A-0 ni-0 na-0

Welcome, are you serious that you have two mp40s and three korilia 1400's on a 120 gallon fowler? Are the mp40s turned way down?

I did... but now I just have 2x mp40's I cleaned off the Korilla and put one of them below in the sump to circulate over the LR more than the return and skimmer already do. Keeps the junk stirred up.

The MP40's would be set to about 80% on reef crest.

Everything loved it.

I am still trying to get them cycled out for the 180.

Well the lack of a filter sock allows the drain's to feed the LR/LS and the refug.

I dont have any real noise, my drains are all below the surface of the water. The bubbles go through two seperate bubble traps before it puts water back into the DT.

I will get an updated picture later today of the sump.

What is your current stock list for the tank? How did all six of the clowns get along?

You should become a paying member and gain access to the rest of the site. I think all would agree you get the $20 back in savings pretty quickly.

Thanks.

Since the start of that thread I have since upgraded to a dedicated fish room and changed tanks to a 180 with a 40g sump.

Much better than the 120 and 2 fx5 canister filters.

Thanks... It is about 18+/- wide. It really likes the flow and is proud to show it.

Looking great man, welcome aboard! How did you get rid of all your hair algae?

I am looking at taking my old 120 and piping it into my 180 setup and make this a frag/sps tank.

Tie it together for an overall: 180dt+40sump + 120dt+50sump

But I have to wait until the 'walkaround' video gets pain on the walls and the floor painted.

Ideas? Comments?

Ohh.. btw... I really like this hobby more and more, everytime I sit and watch it.

Well I did 3 days of Lights out, 1 of actnic only.

I took the vacuum cleaner attachment that is used for the end of the hose, soaked it in vinegar for 3 days. Took my hose I use for water changes added a few rubber-bands around it, to make a good seal INSIDE the adapter. Took the hose and ran it to the sump, into a filter sock, and just scrubbed away,.

That is why the glass has SO MANY drip marks. I was like... you know.. those that understand what I did will not have a problem with a few drip marks. (LOL)

It only took me about 2 hours to slowly and painstakenly go through and scrub it with the long bristle adapter and get sucked up into the hose.

I have a few more spots to go. The RBTA did not want to move so I did not do that one section.

Yeah... thanks... my kids stayed out from under my feet while I did it. HAHAHA...

I think they were afraid that I would make them help.

It looks so much better and brighter. Granted the HA was not bad looking to me.

My cheato is prob going to explode now.
