Incredible Corals May 14, 2010 May 14, 2010 A friend of mine went to the Baltimore Aquarium and saw a sign about some club getting in for free. Do we have any perks with the Baltimore Aquarium?
FearTheTerps May 14, 2010 May 14, 2010 That would be really nice if we did, costs a small fortune for a family to go there anymore. I don't believe we do get a discount tho, although I'm pretty sure we do for the national aquarium in dc. I'm sure someone else will chime in with more details.
dbartco May 14, 2010 May 14, 2010 We do not get a discount at either unfortunately. DC is only $5 though. When we did our last behind the scenes there we got a group rates, but that was the same as schools etc got. Few years ago they were trying to tighten the belt and were cracking down on the freebies. They even got on our tour guide for the bts tour cause they now offer that tour for a $$ to the gen pop. Myt contact at Baltimore has left, so if anyone has the inside scoop, post up or forward their info.
Origami May 14, 2010 May 14, 2010 Doug, I've placed a call to the Baltimore Aquarium's national sales manager. I'm awaiting a call back. While we don't currently get a discount, it doesn't hurt to ask if we can get on their list. It may not happen in time for the OP's excursion, but let's see if there's anything here that we can get for our membership.

I can't find any discounts online or anything. I would love to go more often but it does cost way too much when you start adding up all the tickets for the family along with the gas, lunch, etc to get up there.

I used to go there a lot when I was up that way for regular visits to Mercy Hospital. We joined as members back then. It's a good deal if you're able to make it up there a couple or more times a year. For a single adult membership, the cost is $74 a year, or $104 a year for a couple. Families memberships are a bargain, costing $149 a year for two adults and up to 4 children (21 and under). You can eat up that much at the gate in a single visit nowadays. There are other plans, too, that allow you to bring one or two guests and have other benefits. Because they're a charitable organization, memberships are fully- or partially-deductible on your taxes (depending upon the package). Even without a WAMAS discount, it may be worth considering if you plan on going up a few times a year.
Coral Hind May 14, 2010 May 14, 2010 There was talk a couple of years ago about doing another behind the scenes tour as a club. Can that be revisited?
Matt LeBaron May 14, 2010 May 14, 2010 A behind the scene tour would be great. The seahorse display they have there is what got my fiance and I into the saltwater side of things with our seahorse tank. We really love the Baltimore aquarium.
extreme_tooth_decay May 14, 2010 May 14, 2010 Just FYI: You can always take the behind the scenes tour without the club if you want to. I took it a few years ago. It was fun.

BowieReefer84 May 14, 2010 May 14, 2010 (edited) Not sure if it's still there or not, but I went a few months back and they had a jelly fish exhibit called "Invasion of the Jellies." It was simply amazing. Edited May 14, 2010 by BowieReefer84
