lowsingle September 22, 2009 September 22, 2009 Here are a few pictures of an acan that I purchased from 143gadgets at a WAMAS meeting. The first is through the tank, the second is from above, and the third is when it is eating (notice the pink ring that forms around the mouth.....pretty cool!). Thanks Chris for the great acan! cheers, Darren
lowsingle September 22, 2009 Author September 22, 2009 Sorry, I can't attach any more pics to this thread.....the first pic was too large... Darren

Sikryd September 22, 2009 September 22, 2009 Nice Darren! I'm glad to see another piece that Chris hides in his sump when I come over! Whats up with that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
Ryan S September 22, 2009 September 22, 2009 Awesome acan! Are you target feeding it? I'd really love to start collecting gorgeous acans like that, but they are usually too expensive and I'm not sure I'd be able to target feed them (and I don't know if they'd be ok w/o target feeding?)
Coral Hind September 22, 2009 September 22, 2009 A very nice looking Acan! Awesome acan! Are you target feeding it? I'd really love to start collecting gorgeous acans like that, but they are usually too expensive and I'm not sure I'd be able to target feed them (and I don't know if they'd be ok w/o target feeding?) I never target feed any of my acans and they have been doing fine for almost two years now.

There are very few things that need to be fed, actually like 2-3 that are commonly kept - such as sun polyps. Everything is pretty much photosynthetic in this hobby - except in the expert care department.

I sure love them. Having a sandbed covered in acans would be awesome.
lowsingle September 22, 2009 Author September 22, 2009 Thanks all.....I do target feed my acans (I target feed all of my LPS when I'm not being lazy).....not because they need it to survive, but because they grow faster and require less symbiotic algae living inside of them and thus I believe that enables better coloration of the coral (that is the premise for the zeo method and all of the hybrids). That said, I have no data to back this up except for experience watching the corals response to feeding. cheers, Darren
six-line September 23, 2009 September 23, 2009 Darren Really nice Acan! What are you using to target feed?
