bbyatv September 20, 2009 September 20, 2009 I have some mushrooms growing over and killing a piece of Sun Coral in my tank. I have used a syringe to inject lemon juice, magnesium chloride, and calcium chloride in to them. The mushrooms pull back for a couple of days and then come right back out. How can I kill these things without harming the Sun Coral? Thanks, Bruce
epleeds September 20, 2009 September 20, 2009 if you can pull the rock and cut them off, that would be the best advice i can give. those suckers are hard to kill..

jason the filter freak September 20, 2009 September 20, 2009 i've used kalk to pretty good effect. if you have a piece of elegance in the tank try brushing it over the mushroom for a few seconds
Jon Lazar September 20, 2009 September 20, 2009 Tear the mushroom off with tweezers, and cover the remaining chunks with a piece of epoxy or something else to keep the light off it so it can't grow back.

treesprite September 23, 2009 September 23, 2009 Frogspawn works wonders too. My shrooms withdraw when the frogspawn is too close, so this makes sense. Problem is, would the frogspawn then bother the sun coral?
Brian Ward September 23, 2009 September 23, 2009 pull the rock out and chip off the section of rock the mushroom is attached to. then offer them up for sale or SWAP - there's plenty of people and/or schools that would love to have them. i tried to kill some mushrooms of mine that i have problems with to no avail, so next time I move rocks around, I'm going to chip them off for newbies.
m3fan8ic September 24, 2009 September 24, 2009 I have a same issue with some elephant ear shrooms who I stabbed/cut/pulled off but that sucker just grew right back and stinging my green pocci. I'll have to try different method.
lanman September 24, 2009 September 24, 2009 Frogspawn works wonders too. +1 !! I have a ton of green fuzzy mushrooms growing around my tank. Moved my frogspawn a couple weeks ago - and it has killed all of the 'shrooms' in the vicinity! yay!! bob
