Guest Ruh Roh September 16, 2004 September 16, 2004 I can't make it this weekend (going diving in NC) and i know I am a bit late to get in on this. But if you need someone to cut the tubing still, I have access to a vertical bandsaw. It will clamp the material and cut it on the touch of a button. (really nifty little tool ) Here is the kicker though, it would have to be after work hours (evenings weekdays) or Weekend (have to have someone else at work with me) and I Would need to check about letting someone else into the shop, probably alright as long as I escort. Very interested if you need people to fill out the other slots though, sent my # to chip.

ctreptow September 19, 2004 September 19, 2004 Hi All I have a problem. I am in the middle of doing my upgrade from 30G to 2 75G tanks. I've the new tanks up 3 weeks now without a problem. Tonight I noticed that one of my tanks is infected with Ich. I need to run out to the store and get my Hospital tank back up and running before I lose my guys. I'm sorry guys but I will not be able to make the cutting party on Sun. BTW how long do I need to keep my filter pads in the sump to build up enough bacteria so I can run my Hosp. tank? Chris

krish September 19, 2004 September 19, 2004 ctreptow, Just lower the salinity of the display tank to somewhere around 1.019 and the ick should be under control. My tank salinity dropped to 1.021 when i had a disaster and the auto-topoff kept adding freshwater. Now the Hippo looks darn clean. I plan to keep it at the same level for a couple of months. The tank has been running at 1.021 for over 3 weeks and i would say that the SPS and softies are growing well with no perceivable difference. Don't mess with the hospital tank etc. You will be stressing the fish even more. I have lost a bunch of fish in the past going that route. Just leave em in there and start dropping the salinity. My 2 cents and of course, come to the building party. -krish
krish September 19, 2004 September 19, 2004 Folks, I will bring in the following. a) Drill bits b) 1 pair of gloves and a safety glass. c) The router bits( a small box) d) Metal files for whatever it is worth. e) I can do the photography Oh, i am looking for the Oregon Tort. Will buy it from you if you have a frag. I already have the California Tort. Just thought i might as well ask See ya all soon. -krish
krish September 19, 2004 September 19, 2004 Folks, Got a call from Kannan. His dosing pump failed and dumped Kalk into the display tank, thus causing a pH spike to around 9.66 or so. He has already added some 15ml vinegar to bring it down to 9.16. Probably add some more vinegar to bring it into the high 8's. The lights will be kept turned off for a day to help it. I will swing by his place, take a look and come over to the party. In the meanwhile, if there is something that we need, please call me.I will PM chip my mobile #. There is a Home Depot across Kannan's place and i will be able to pick stuff for us. see ya all soon. -krish
flowerseller September 20, 2004 Author September 20, 2004 After thinking about it later this afternoon, I decided to cut a grove, like in one of the top rings, for the base and then glue a piece of arylic over the hole. (at least in mine) I know it will be a stronger base joint and these things are tall. If I have time, I may do all those except anyone who PMs me in the next couple days saying not to. With a piece glued over the hole, it won't leak and it could be a cool deflector. Trust me ............ Chief

flowerseller September 21, 2004 Author September 21, 2004 Well I think we got a whole lot done at the cutting party. Re-learned a lot about mass production Remember, We're making 17 at one time. I wish it was quicker on the draw to start the simo stations but getting the initial rings cut from the sheet x 34 was more than I anticipated and we couldn't do simo till we had the sheet free. :p Cutting the bases and jointing the edges went really well. Trimming the rings and cutting the groove went fast but had to be done seperate since we needed the rings for each step. Making 17 at one time is twice what I ever dreamed. I looked over the work last night and we are going to have one nice performing/ looking piece. You should all be very proud of yourselves you craftsman you! I plan to cut the groove in the bases Tuesday night and then get the "fins" cut and jointed. When we meet again, we will final cut the fins for each tubes and glue. We will hear soon about the holes and then glue Party. At that point, we need to assign kalk reactors so people can glue their own and be done. For convienience, I will choose 2 dates soon that work for "me" and you will then choose 1 that works for "you". Hopefully everyone will choose the same but that's what will be out there. I hope no one was too discouraged but, Remember, We're making 17 at one time. Chief BTW, that was the best salsa I ever ate! Good thing you guys were leaving................ :D
ctreptow September 21, 2004 September 21, 2004 Hi Guys Chip I had a really good time. This is why I joined WAMAS to participate in events like this. I just want to thank you for making your home and Shopsmith available. Doug I would say add the Minijets and the JG fittings to your order if you can swing it. Thanks Chris
dbartco September 21, 2004 September 21, 2004 I will add 17 (maybe an extra for Xeon) 606 Minijets to the order. Could someone help me pick the JG fittings that we need. Do we want a 90 degree fittings for the top? Size? Just want to doublecheck my assumptions on what we are to get. for the top of reactor to sump?: http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=RO5211 from the RO resevoir into reactor?????: ??????????? Anything else we need?
flowerseller September 21, 2004 Author September 21, 2004 These MJs need to be the 106 gph flow ones don't they? They also need to be able to replace the impeller since we will be gluing the cord in place and if someone uses a cheapo kind of kalk their going to tear up the impeller. I need 3 "kits". Unless someone else wants to buy & hold the hardware kits, I am not in the posistion to also buy the remaining "kits" and be holding the 4-5 plastic kits now left unclaimed. I just don't have an extra 60ish bucks per kit and am quite possitive my kids will not want them as part of thier christmas presents so that wont work.
