  1. Do you care sharing brand, age and condition of the heater? I would like to know. Anyone who had heater failures or fire caused by a heater do you care to post the information I requested for future reference or to see if there is a manufacturer trend that we should stay away from? Raf
  2. Geez Mr. VP you aren't paying attention? He is in Mexico City BTW on Apr 5 Dave will be at the meeting in his Mariachi outfit serenating the attending wifes/gf to put money on their mans pockets for them to buy frags
  3. Chris that doesn't sound too bad: 1. As chip said in the past is best to let it correct itself, make sure you keep the lights off at least for today. When the lights come on PH will rise, keep that in mind. 2. Not sure 3. Wrasses wrap themselves in a mucus when stressed and for protection, I think your wrasse will be ok.

  11. Doug what I gathered from Davids post was that he was setting a big GB for his products to sell online and that at the same time when he orders other people can piggy back through his order and get bulk discount and save some $; not him buying it and then reselling it after he generates interest of his GB. David was that what you meant?
  12. Well you know me... I have to say something. One question only: 1. When you went to BRK did you pick and watched your 2 clowns before bagging them? I LOVE BRK and the staff. I don't make it there as much as I would like (good in a way or I would be broke) but when I make it I spend about 2 hours talking to John, Byron and the rest of the gang on getting advice which I very much respect. Ask John or Byron last time I was there I studied my 2 fishes like a hawk for 30 minutes or so, ask them to let me see them eat, ask what they were being fed and how often, asked them how long they were in the store, asked them if they were bullied by other fishes in their tanks and lot more questions, in the end I got my 2 fishes because I was happy with every answer I got. BRK is one of the best LFS in the area. John can tell you that I praise him on the great work they do almost everytime I see them or call them. My .02

  18. I'm getting a little off track here and I don't want you to be offended by what I'm going to say but your tank is way to young for you to start doing things of certain high levels of expertise. I mean: 1. your tank says is 30G and you have a hippo tang there wether is 1/2" or a little bigger that is no place for a fish that requires at least 75G of tank room and that it will rather sooner than later outgrow your tank, 2. you have a BTA in a tank that isn't mature, 3. you don't have an adequate skimmer to keep your water in the pristine conditions that an anemone requires, 4. you have a clam that follows the water quality rule mentioned above and is that clam epoxyied to the rock? (no, no, no your damaging that clam), 5. you keep ignoring and blowing off the advice in other threads from people who have been in the hobby for many many years and are trying to help you through establishing a healthy tank, we are not trying to hold you back, we just want to make sure your tank becomes solid as a rock so you can create an awesome enviroment for your critters. This hobby takes alot of patience and is for a reason, remember "nothing good happens on a reef tank when you rush it". Remember that this hobby is not about a wow effect or to impress the people but more like creating, understanding and more importatntly conserving the reef eco-system through propagation. As I said before I'm not trying to hold you back or insult you, I just want to help you understand and help you create a solid eco-system and then you can make it as bad-arse as you want. Once you got the knowledge the sky is the limit. If you have any questions or need help feel free to let me know and I'll do my best to answer and if I don't have the answer I know who the right person to ask will be. Raf
  19. IIIINNNNNNNNAAAAAAA!!!!! You are back!!! I have a can filter for you, LMK. Also I'll hook you up with frags See you soon!!! Raf
  20. Awesome response Scott!!! Thanks for the valuable information. I actually ended up with 4 Black ORA misbar juvi and 2 Black non-misbar juvi clowns. One pair perished in a return pump accident, one pair is in my display and the other pair is on my QT. Right now there are couple of things I'm tinkering with a few things in my head so one might officially be selling one or the other. Are you going to the meeting on Sat? I would like to ask you a few things in person. Raf Raf
  21. Scott I have a pair of Black and White Ocellaris and a RBTA, is that a suitable anemone for that particular clown? I saw your the pics you posted about your b&w clowns tank and I didn't recall seeing a BTA or any other anemone for that matter. Thanks for your help. Raf
  22. The fellows are pulling your chain: Julian Sprung is a biologist, author, photographer, aquarium design consultant, and a partner in the aquarium industry manufacturing and publishing company, Two Little Fishies, Inc. Julian graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology in 1988. Since 1988 he has written the column "Reef Notes" in Freshwater and Marine Aquarium magazine, and he was Science Editor from 1993 to 1995 for Aquarium Frontiers. In 1991 Julian wrote and narrated the video, An Introduction to The Hobby of Reef Keeping, which was the first product of Two Little Fishies, Inc, the company he formed with Daniel Ramirez. Two Little Fishies now publishes books and CD ROM'S, and manufactures a variety of popular aquarium products and foods for fishes and invertebrates. Julian's Reef Notes, Revisited and Revised, is a compilation of "Reef Notes" question and answer columns plus additional notes pointing out changes of opinion or errors. Two Little Fishies' Oceanographic Series guides include Julian's Corals: A Quick Reference Guide, Invertebrates: A Quick Reference Guide, and Julian's latest book, Algae: A Problem Solver Guide. A common theme in Julian's approach to aquarium keeping is to study the living ecosystem while keeping the technical support system simple. By promoting this philosophy he intends to increase the enjoyment of the hobby and attract those who might otherwise be deterred by the cost and complexity of "high-tech" aquariums.
