  1. From Divers' Alert Network: coral cuts, scrapes, stings coral scrapes DAN contact info (Every active diver should be a member.) re the OP, I was breaking up a large, large, large monti cap that has thoroughly overrun the tank and destroyed many other $$$ specimens the other day. there was a section that was very thick and hard to break. when i bent on it real hard and it finally snapped, my fingers went right over a sharp edge from where I had broken off a piece previously. Result: inch long slice. I got it under running hot water -- as hot as I could stand it -- and pulled the cut open to flush it fully. I also bled it out constantly. Alternated spreading and flushing and bleeding it for about ten minutes. Poured antiseptic all in it, then put neosporin all over it and covered with a bandage. Though sore for a few days, healed fine. Key, though, I believe was the thorough (albeit painful) cleansing.
  2. John, Can you get any of the wyoming white ocellarises? I would only need one, since I already have the one I won at the MACNA raffle. If so, how much? Thanks. Ken
  3. your description of the setup is correct. the unit comes with a cd/program that walks you through the setup, during which you identify for the adapter/extender the correct network (i.e., wireless router signal) it should be tapping into. It is easiest to set up if you have a laptop, such that you can run the program on the laptop, bring the laptop near the router, and connect the adapter/bridge to the laptop at the same time so that while you are running the setup program with the extender/adapter attached to the computer, you can make that identification. If you only have a wireless-equipped desktop, you might need to do a little back-and-forth to hook/unkook components (if I remember the steps correctly). Ultimately, though, you "cut the cords" and connect the ACIII to the ethernet adapter/extender via a cat 5 cable, and that adapter/extender then communicates wirelessly with the router. It does take a few more steps to set up than the powerline-based approach (which is essentially plug-and-play), but you will get much better, stable communication and the steps are not hard at all if you follow the guide that comes with the unit.
  4. the powerline-based ethernet bridges/extenders can start to pick up noise on the home electrical system, which will prevent communication between the router and the ACIII, as happened to me after a year of trouble-free service. You can get a wireless ethernet bridge at Microcenter. See this Wireless Extender It works well, and there is no powerline noise interference hampering communication.
  5. Who all has purchased anything from Aquarium Specialty (the online-based mail order company in South Carolina) and either lives in D.C. or has had it delivered in D.C. (e.g., to your place of work)? I am looking to establish that AS has conducted business in the D of C. Thanks.
  6. had such an ad been out there, there should not have been that lawsuit, since such art would have invalidated the relevant patent claims pronto. You can not have a patent on something that is referred to as prior art. If Orbitech asserted that their claims covered the Solaris fixture (i.e., that their claims described the Solaris fixture) but it turned out that Solaris fixture had been advertised before the Orbitech patents was filed, then that fact would have rendered the relevant Orbitech claims invalid on their face. Pfo would have presented it as exhibit 1, but there is no such exhibit in the record (with which i am as familiar with as possible). more later, if and when able to explain more thanks, all, for helping here.
  7. Hi All, and thanks for the replies. What I am looking for is two things, most likely in advertising. One, I would like to be able to demonstrate what a Perfecto (or similar) full hood lighting arrangement looked like prior to 2003, including if possible a picture showing it sitting on a tank and covering the whole top of the tank. Two, I would like to show that fans in lighting units were known and why (seems obvious to you and me, but I need to prove this). This is in relation to a patent matter I am working on; I will provide further details shortly, when I am able to do so. Thanks for your assistance.
  8. thanks. i may just end up ordering from companies what I can get if folks don't have collections I can refer to.
  9. I am looking for back issues of hobby magazines -- TFH, FAMA, etc. -- or catalogues from the 2000-2003 time period. Does anyone have any I could come out to review/borrow? (I am looking for speicific information.) PM or email to kmfagin@yahoo.com Thanks
