  1. Total loss of power. What kills them first? Lack of oxygen? Assume house is not freezing and tank size between 50 and 100 gals.
  2. IPSF's seabunnies
  3. Build a little 2/4 box to fit the bottom frame of the tank like those cheapo bolt-together stands. Do not lay the boards flat, they will sag in the middle.
  4. Or the AquaC Remora or Remora pro. Like the Urchin but hang-on-tank.
  5. How did you manage to move that monster by yourself???
  6. Yikes ooh you guys have big tanks! I'm thinking about a 90+ near cube. Thanks for the advice folks. By the way is Ruh Roh from Astro the Dog "Ri Rorge" :D
  7. Hmmmmmmmmm Scott; bummer ]]]sory I've heard about the sloppy(extra) silicone but most seem to say they're strong. I'm still thinking about buying from them. BTW, I live in Manassas about 8 minutes from their usual drop-off point.
  8. krish & others; Did you have them install an overflow chamber as-well? Good job?
  9. Thanks Craig & Howard
  10. Howard... a link out where?
  11. I'm looking into this "Aquarium Nazi" for my next aquarium. Anyone buy from these folks? Opinions please. I've heard good and bad; mostly good. He reminds me of the "Soup Nazi"; don't ask too many questions or "No Aquarium for you!" I tries to talk to Brad about his 90 but he disappeared into "diaperland."
  12. Likely sold-out but last month TRT had some for $39 Here's the link I saw a small one at Marine Scene fot $80 or $90.
  13. Maybe add an extra exit hole to the hood. You might want to get ahold of a frag of "bali green slimer". I had some a while back that did fine under PCs. Kinda like a "Beginner's" acro. Very pretty green color and fast grower.
  14. I believe that the seedlings are often suspended through a piece of styrofoam and don't really root until they mature a little. Seems like you'd have more success with a 10 gallon tank plummed to your setup. Space constraints?
  15. Don't they need a substrate to sink their roots into? Could that be done in an AC-300?
  16. Since this is your first try at seahorses, consider normal-sized like the majority of the horses at www.oceanrider.com. I've read that the dwarfs are more delicate (any disputes welcome, this is just what I've heard). It's also easier to keep a larger tank stable. Many folks over at www.seahorse.org keep their horses with a limited selection of corals. Thoes horse-heads are even breeding these guys. Helpful people.
  17. If it's just 1 No fluorecent bulb, you aint got enuf; even for softies. It's pretty easy to build a box-hood and install reflectors with VHOs or PCs. Look at the Vendor News/Champion lighting announcement.
  18. Glad to hear it clp]]
  19. I had a pair of tomato clowns that adopted a xenia patch. Anything that came within 10" of their home was attacked including me. No real harm and they didn't pursue beyond the 10" zone. You might add chromis to your list; green being most common, a small peaceful schooling fish. Damsels have a nasty reputation but I had 2 yello-tail-blues that kept to themselves.
  20. Hey Phil(Grav)!, Been fine thanks, hope all is well. When I return to the reef hobby I'll be looking for some green slimer frags hint hint [ws]
  21. I used to have a bunch of spagetti algae (forgot the scientific name) in my sump-fugeium and would regularly harvest it and put a little in the tank for my 1 yellow tang. He seemed to enjoy eating it. It is easy to control as it doesn't have any hold-fasts. I gave-away several big clumps a year ago so there should be alot around.
  22. My power went out around midnight and came back on around 7:30 this morning. I had a little battery-operated air pump running with just 1 airlift tube. Looks like everything survived. Watch-out you Fairfax County folks. They say in my office in Chantilly that the water quality is questionable due to power loss at the treatment plant.
  23. Correct me if I'm wrong folks.... It's difficult to maintain pH when alkalinity is too low so, you mmight want to try using Seachem's Reef Builder which is for raising and maintaining alkalinity along with your Marine Buffer which is supposed to maintain pH and alkalinity.
  24. Michaelg... what's at the lower end of the air-lift tubes? Is it just to move water from the bottom to the top and agitate the surface?
  25. Hey sqwd folks. I have a 75 gal oceanic with the return line coming up through the overflow box. No closed-loop holes in back of tank. Sen 700 return. How would you suggest I set-up a sqwd if I went that route?
