  1. Well now this is interesting. Seems they have a plus version that will work on tanks up to 3/4" in thickness as well. A little concerned about scratching. Anyone have thoughts on this? http://www.moaidevices.com/ https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/moai/moai-robot-for-your-aquarium
  2. I'm not sure if it was Ich or Velvet, unfortunately. I've heard that the display tank should stay fallow for as little as 4 weeks to as much as 26 weeks (for velvet). I'm not sure there's a consensus out there as to what's "right."
  3. Sorry to hear about your loss. Ran into a similar issue in Feb and lost 14 of my 15 fish.
  4. I'm having problems with Neptune right now as well. I shipped something to them and for some reason FedEx didn't deliver. I had to follow up with them to discover they'd never received it and when I asked them to contact FedEx to arrange delivery they didn't ... and the package was sent back. I could have put that $30 towards a new AFS, instead now it's gone.
  5. Fascinating. I had no idea such a thing was possible. Sorry for the pain you're going through--but thank you so much for sharing! I wonder if the stress of being moed about caused the fish to excrete more *something* than normal that subsequently packed a greater punch at and into the cut site. Just guessing at this point, would love to learn more. Post anything to Bob Fenner?
  6. Well gosh, that just changed my mind. (And yeah I'm already using Fusion)
  7. I have the reeflink and it seems to have settled down to functioning OK. I relocated the reeflink to right next to my wireless router and my problems went way down. I also have a WXM but haven't set it up yet. Given this thread, I may not.
  8. FYI: On Apr 6, 2015, at 06:49, Scott Gebhart <info@thealternativereef.com> wrote: Our outer magnet is the same as the inner magnet. Completely encased in plastic. They are Sure Grip 100's. Scott Alternative Reef, llc
  9. I was recently looking at solutions like this myself. For instance: http://www.thealternativereef.com/ar/Products.html (magnetic frag shelf) http://www.aqua-mags.com/ (rock mags) Anyone using anything like this? Was thinking about magging it to the overflow box.
  10. I'd go out of my way to recommend against GlassCages, though my experience with them is rather old at this point. I've bought two aquariums so far from Miracles in Canada now over the last dozen years or so and have been delighted with the results each time. First time around was a 6'x2'x2' 180G. This time is a 60"x36"x34" roughly 300G. I rather like the look of the taller tanks, but yes it's challenging.
  11. I picked up a white tail bristletooth tang there several weeks back and the proprietor (I didn't catch his name, maybe it was Vince?) was clearly concerned for the well being of the fish. That's the kind of attitude I like to see from fish shops - not just there to make $$ but to ensure the livestock are well cared for.
  12. I think it depends on exactly how your setup is going to work. I used flex tubing for the return on my last tank and never had any problems with it. My current tank the flex tubing allows for jostling of the return pump which actually unscrews the bulkhead over time and causes leaking under the tank. So... not great. Will be replacing with PVC.
  13. I have one in my tank - super personable fish.
  14. This board seriously needs *like* buttons.
