  1. loose connection
  2. Is the pump intake at the top or bottom of the reactor?
  3. +1 or the ones used for CO2. Sean
  4. another thing would be to modify the output to recirc the co2 back into the pump intake, then tap the side of the reactor where less bubbles are likely to collect. Sean
  5. IME the small media, unless fluidized, traps bubbles. try the coarse ARM or replace the pump with a more powerful one; one that will fluidize the media. Sean
  6. awesome thanks Jan!
  7. Zoas, euphyllias(hammers and torches) are two very bright types of corals. Sean
  8. IME the coral rx and revive( both of which are naturally derived from melaleuca, i believe) work best. Again this is my owne experience, but i do believe that in order to kill/ knock off any bugs using iodine based products you are stressing the corals out way too much. I keep the iodine on the shelf unless a coral has RTN or STN or brown jelly disease(LPS).
  9. asterina starfish
  10. yeah i ahve a real nice rimless cube built by him, PM me your cell phone number and ill text you the pics i have Sean
  11. looking good brah!
  12. +1
  13. in ashburn, caring hands animal hospital has an exotic vet that has prescribed the proper dosage without guidance. HERE is their contact info
  14. I did experience this, then i started using chloramine specific filters in my ro prefilter and that was the end of that.
  15. its a good salt pros: cheap, high levels when mixed to 1.025( their instructions have you mixing it to 1.023 which is where it gets the label of being low alk salt) cons: no water conditioners like IO and RC so it has to bbe used with 0 tds water. takes a lil longer to dissolve than salts that have an anticaking agent. I use it in the store. I sub with IO on occasion. Sean
  16. i would only use socks if you can regularly change them. Whether they are needed or not, depends on your system. IE if you dont have the filter sock in place, do you feed so much that youd be worried about nitrates? if not, then i wouldn't bother with them. Sean
  17. tHAT WILL HELP, but i would consider redoing your drain from the tank, to allow air to dissipate before being suck down. IME the bubbles coming out of your drain line will result in alot of salt creep. Sean
  18. thanks you guys! really appreciate the reviews. we'll keep on keeping on! Sean
  19. nice read, very informative. Sean
  20. yeah thats what itll do. sporadically suck larger air bubbles down into the stream of water...does that sound right>? Sean
  21. if your return lines are close to the surface, then the actual water coming out will suck air down with it. does that make sense?
  22. closed loops typically are built two ways; one witht he returns going through the bottom of the tank and another set up with the returns coming to the top of the tank with water oscillators on there for motion. I plumbed a tank recently with a water blaster 10000 behind an oceans motion 4 way. everything is under the tank. looks really nice, downside is that you have to use double union ball valves nearly at every connection to ensure that you can easily remove every component w/o leaking.
