Ok so I have lately been having a issue with keeping my PH up at night. During the day it sits at 7.8 (which IMO is low for the day) And its 7.5-7.6 at night. I dose kalk through a kalk reactor twice a day one in the morning one at night and even when i recharge the kalk the ph doesnt go any higher. What can i do to fix this? I have seen a mild STN.

I have always had great luck with them and there livestock. The are right about other vendors shipping out sick items and i think thats grat they dont ship something that doesnt look sick but the whole waiting thing does suck. Ask them to cancel your order and look for a local vendor to get one for you. Thats probably your best chance right now.

I think he could also benefit from a better skimmer. Anyone have one there are looking to get rid of? Another benefit of a sump is a refug with macro algea. Chris once we get your tank straight I got some frags to get you started and I am sure others on here will help you out as well.

You dont want to help this guy out, he's a tool! Glad to see you finally posted. Chris is one of my college fraternity brothers and he came to me for help with his tank. He is located in Falls church and I keep trying to convince him to install a sump. His skimmer is hanging on the back of his tank and he only turns it on when he's home because a overflowing skimmer almost caught his house on fire and damaged some equipment. He is experiencing a aglae bloom on his sand. He really needs someone to go to his house and address his issues and give him some tips. My first tip to him is to get a sump so he can put his skimmer in there and not worry about overflowing. Second would be to get more flow throughout the tank. I know we can all help get him on the right track. He's a good addition to Wamas so give him a warm welcome.

I dose and blow them off the rocks with a powerhead so they go in the overflow and in my sock filter which i remove and rinse while i wait 45 min for the stuff to kick in. Then I do a water change and run carbon. easy as that

I love my ASM g4x. It works well for my setup which is about 150g total volume. I did the gate valvur and it works well for me

Marcos is no longer getting their famous Marcos rock since there is now a ban on collecting it. They have florida limestone rock buts its not the same. BRK had some nice Marshal island rock in their vats

True but i think that it would take a few days for this to happen instead of a couple of hours. Hopefully you have someone watching your tank that know what they are doing and catches it or you catch it when you get back before it overflows. Its 100% float safe if you look at it everyday

I have one power head blow from the back to the front and one on each side of the tank. The main pump return is in the middle. I have enough flow to keep most things in the water column to flow through the overflow and into a sock filter. Mine still builds up in the middle of the front of the tank which is then siphoned out during water changes

The timer control when they can power on and off. When the water level goes above the float the float switch cuts off no matter if the timer is on or not. The issue with float switches are they can fail and stay on. The timer will cut the power off after 15min no matter if it sticks or not therefore keeping your sump for overflowing and overdosing

Timers control how long the float switch can run for and when they cut on. You never have to worry about a float switch sticking and staying on

Mine is simple and works really well. I have two float switches each hooked up to a extension cord. I have one hooked up to the smallest pump possible. I use this for water only. Then the other one I have hooked up a aqua lifter that goes through my kalk reactor. Both of the extension cords are then hooked up to two timers for fail safe measures. You can tweak the timers to have the system work the way you need it to. This option is cheap and effective and my days of kalk overdosing are gone. For my RO makeup water I use a solenoid hooked up to a high and lower float switch. When the water gets low it cut the main water supply to the RO filter on and when it reaches the high float switch it cuts off the main water supply. Both of these items cost me less than store bought ATO and IMO works alot better
