  1. Thanks Guys. So 1 inch material (poplar)seems to be the way to go. I think I am going to make a box out 1x material and leave the back open with a couple 1 x 2 boards on the back for support. Then I am going to get some round edge trim (hopefully this can be found at lowes) and trim the top and bottom. I am going to use a hindge on the back to lift the entire canopy. Then I want to do my doors like Eric's. Should look decent if it comes out like i plan
  2. Yeah not a fan of the doors. Recommendations on the doors?
  3. Photo credit to jpNuss: This is the stand I have. I want it to match but not sure if I should basically build a box and have a rounded out board trim the top and bottom or do the planks like the front doors.

  6. Mark thats exactly what I thinking. looks like this might be my best bet
  7. I am wondering if i should hinge it, hang it or put it on rollers. Hanging it would be nice but not sure on how it can be done easily and fairly cheap but still look ok
  8. anyone interested in ordering?
  9. yeah those bulbs. so you like them?
  10. I was trying to see if anyone has plans on building a 120g canopy that can support 2x 250w luminarc reflectors and 48" vhos. My tank is 48x24. If someone has one laying around let me know as well. My stand is the standard black AGA pine. Need opinions on how to access the tank through the canopy.
  11. There was a topic started awhile back on some MH bulbs that were really cheap and I know alot of people on here tried them out. Now i was wondering how everyone liked the bulbs and to see if anyone did par testing on them over time. Let me know I cant seem to find the original thread
  12. I have a bunch of dried out smaller peices baseball sized and a little larger
  13. thanks for all the support guys. I am overwelmed with the offers and will keep you guys up to date on the progress
  14. if you dont mind checking i would appreciate it
  15. I do not have a sand bed and i am doing nightly 15g water changes. I added amquel and live bacteria tonight. No ammonia kit however since i never needed it. Alk was 9.6. Thinking this was caused by a contaimanted container or lack of temp acclimating live rock but the temps were only 2 degrees different. Acclimated all the corals and fish though
  16. Ok so i did a 15g water change last night and this morning the water has cleared up alot. Still having more losses and had a green chromi and yellow tang die. To top it off I was moving my 120g into the basement and chipped the back corner. Luckily it doesnt look like its structural damage but it pissed me off pretty bad. I was maybe a 2mm chip that was a inch long. With 1/2 glass i cannot see it being a issue but who knows.
  17. Shoot I have a few peices that I have had since I started the hobby 6 years ago that might not make it. lucky for me I have given out alot of my corals over the past 5 years. I am just sick to my stomach when i think about it and to top it off I still have things to move and get ready for the new renter in my townhouse. UGHHHHH
  18. thanks guys it just disappointing to lose something you put so much effort into
  19. So I moved the tank two days ago and the corals were so stressed from the move that they slimed up pretty good and I believe it created what people call "chemical warfare". Everything was moved a short distance (4 miles) and wasnt sitting in tubs for two long (maybe 1 hour) but the handling of the corals (mainly LPS) created them to slime up really bad. There was stringy slime all over the tank. Ran carbon but it didnt stop it. Most of the corals were receeding and bleaching within a day after setup. Going to do a water change tonight(15g on a total volume of 60g). Have kept the lights off for 2 days now to keep them from stressing out more. Tank water is still cloudy. It hurts to know how much time I spent making the move easy as possible on them just to loose them not to mention the back breaking work envolved. It looks like they are all goners. Sometimes I hate this hobby. I need to get my 120g up and running or I might walk away from the hobby.
  20. Not really anything heavy just alot of water to move and hoping to minimize stress to the corals
  21. moving the tank 4 miles away so its a short move. Looking to do it in the morning or whenever i can get some help. I will be taking the day off
