  1. I have a 55g regular and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I am about to buy a 400w Metal Halide and was wondering if one right in the middle of the canopy will light the entire aquarium without having areas on the sides that aren't as bright. I also was wondering how much of a increase in electricity this would be a month on average and if i stepped in down to a 250w if the usage would change at all.
  2. Some people had asked a little about the tank i have. I have a 55g that i bought from a guy that had it setup for 4 years. The water quality is as follows: PH:8.1 Amonia:0 Nitrite:.0 Nitrate:10 ppm Alk:Norm Spg:1.022-1.023 I am ordering a 400w metal halide next week unless someone has one for sale!I have a protein skimmer that needs some fixing (seal) and a 10g sump tank. A rio pump with two powerheads and a overflow box. I also have a 300w submersible heater, Two damsels that i believe laid eggs, a snails, a brittle starfish , a clown fish and 150 pounds or more of live rock that came with the tank.

  4. I have actually done alot of reading and research about reefs. I have had a Nano Cube 12g for 5-6 months i would say and have excelent results. I had a accident about a two weeks ago when i tried to kill my hair algae and it shot my nitrites way up killing a coral i had that was doing really good. This caused me to get the 55g because i was tired of the fluctuations of water quality. I bought a 6 stage ro filter and i like it but it takes forever to get water but i deal with it. My water quality is great and i think my two damels just laid eggs. I still have all my stuff in the 12 g though because i am waiting to see if the 55g cycles because i had to mix up the sand to get rid of the waste that i inherited. Water quality is great right now after alot of work. I dont want to sound like i dont know anything about reefs but that i am still learning. The protein skimmer i have leaks so i was confused why it didnt work but i firgured out that i had it hooked up right. All i need is a light and i am ready to go. I have looked and found one that i am going to order unless i find one cheaper. I had alot of luck with my past frags growing rapidly and just need a few people to help me out with some things they can part with or dont want to further my learning.
  5. I have two striped damels and i need help to identify if they laid eggs. One is bright while the other is a draker bluish green color so believe they are male and female. I see like egg like objects that look like little stones and want to know if they are eggs. One of the damels is making clicking noises and very territorial. does anyone have a clue what the eggs look like?
