  1. Ok, male is carrying, big a$$ pouch... Looked for him this morning, to no avail. Hopefully he was hiding in the chaeto popping them out. I'll have to check tonight after work.
  2. Yeah, the 'tank' actually a tub, is being set up. It's essentially going to be a fuge for the fry - sponge filter, light, rock, chaeto. From what I have read bbs are too large, so I'm leaning towards rots.
  3. Now the female has a big belly, guessing that she is carrying eggs. My guess is that the previous interaction was a dry run.
  4. Interested, work in SE DC. Across the river from Nats Ballpark.
  5. Excellent idea! That would help, b/c there is very little to read/research about them.
  6. Update: male's pouch is growing, and they are eating frozen mysis!
  7. Sorry no pics, they were in an opening in my fuge when I actually saw them mate. Other than that time I rarely see them, unless I go fuge fishing. The adults have plenty of pods, but I'm trying slowly to get them to eat some Cyclopeez. I plan on setting up a rot culture for the youngin's, and also possibly making a big fuge tub - which over time could be the nursery. Mr. Coral said he can help also. So far no babies, but I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row. I have read that these fish can and will breed continuously.
  8. Well my less than a week old acquisitions were found having a tender moment yesterday. I'm hoping for the best, but time will tell. Anyone here run a rotifer culture system before?
  9. If you try to get there from Rt. 210, the road sign will actually be Palmer Rd. - it changes into Allentown Rd.
  10. Hey Tim, have your mantis molted since you've had it? My N. wennerae has and completely changed from green to cream colored. My peacock hasn't yet, and they have the same feeding schedule. Just curious.
  11. Yes, mine eat thawed frozen krill - although it is necessary to feed live food so their raptoral appendages stay strong, and to aid in molting. It's all a part of life, I'd stay away from Animal Planet.
  12. Sonny looks a little too sober for a hockey game. Especially that one!
  13. Not positive, but I thought the tunze nano (9002) fit in that chamber. And mediabasketsdotcom sells a replacement cup that allows you to close the hood, not to mention media baskets. All in all pricey, but can't beat the tunze.
  14. Darn creative! Landed a lot of fish w/ that hook, but it looks like not the one you wanted yet.
  15. Agree w/ Grav. Mine usually get switched out at 14 months, and I always keep 2 old ones just in case.
  16. Picked up a little mottled green girl from Mr. Coral. She's a beauty! Tim, you're up.
  17. Way too funny. "The force is strong within him." Now does the mantis get a net or a spear for the battle?
  18. Yep, found out sexing them almost like sexing a lobster. Unfortunately, there was no golden mantis. I did see one there about 2 months ago (maybe there were some color shifts?). I picked up the peacock. Zoozilla - the peacock is about 3" long and cost me $40. I figured it was a good price considering stomatopod dot com charges about the same + shipping. Of course the least expensive route would be to find someone else's unwanted hitchhiker.
