  1. Awesome!!!! I cant wait to see the colors and variations!
  2. IMO i think you should wait and save up a bit more so you can get the lights you think you need. I would not settle. You are just going to do the same thing you did with the other 2 lights you bought. Both of the lights you have already will grow coral. Unfortunately it's not the color you like but they are good enough to keep coral. I unfortunately don't know much about the RED Sea LEDs and they have not really proven themselves in the industry for LED's yet. I think you should save up some money and get some Hydra 32's. I have seen 8-9 tanks running them long term and they are fantastic. and you can customize them for the color look you want.
  3. What do you dose for nitrate and phosphate? or do you just over feed?
  4. The second picture no. that's about 500-600 1/2 watt LED's it won't have the penetration needed IMO. The first one may have enough light output but that is a lot of green light that is really a waste of power since corals really dont use much if any green light.
  5. So I wanted to start a discussion about how we as a club prefer to export our nutrients. I want to see if there is something someone is doing than the rest of us may have not thought of that is bringing them success. So for the plan for my 150g cube, My plan is to do both a traditional refugium and at ATS. ATS being for the primary nutrient export and the traditional refugium for growing decorative red algaes. In the past I had a extremely high bioload 104g seahorse tank that I used a remote 70g tank as a refugium growing all kinds of caulerpa for my export. I was feeding 4 cubes of frozen food a day on this tank and it kept my display pristine. I was also breeding Yellow watchman gobies in the 70g because there was such a huge pod population in it. What are you running? And do you have any cool things you do special with your tank?
  6. Yup definitely not a marine land. Sounds like an old oceanic 300 based on what you described.
  7. this is incorrect. It looks like a seam starting to fail. and if its a marineland 300g that's not an uncommon sight. The seams fail fairly commonly for that tank for some reason.
  8. +1 to this. I have a seperate EB8 for my heaters. They have a long proven track record. But yah the new EB832's have a few glitches with high cycle quantities. Heaters, ato pumps, and any high cycle items are not a good idea to run on the new EB832's. At least with the first batch of them. Not sure with the second gen ones that came out a year after.
  9. If you are worried about the switches in your eb832, pick up an old EB8 to run your heaters.
  10. Yah i think so. HAHAHAHA gotta love that pre supplied youtube music
  11. I used a masonry blade. Make sure you have good air circulation or outside on a breezy day. It makes a huge dust storm. But it does cut through the rock like butter. Here is a link to the blade: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Diablo-12-in-x-1-8-in-x-1-in-Masonry-High-Speed-Cut-Off-Disc-DBD120125A01C/202831050 Make sure the blade has the same arbor as your saw.
  12. Thanks! Yah the rock stack is hard to get pictures of ?
  13. Here is some pictures of the rock stack. The video shows it better though.
  14. I have been working on the rock stack. Let me know what you think? Link is to YouTube. Video of rock stack
  15. you could just wire in an external ballast. CoralVue make a pretty good 250w plus ballast
  16. And apex came in yesterday so now I need to build out the storage unit for all my contollers.
  17. Yah its a bummer they are so big. But I am hard pressed to find a more reliable heater. I am hoping to have the stand shell built this weekend so hopefully should be getting wet next weekend.
  18. a electrical conduit hanger would be great for this. All you need is 2 screw in brackets, some metal electrical conduit and a conduit bender. See this R2R thread for examples: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/diy-bent-conduit-light-bracket-advice-please.98370/ Conduit Bender: $35 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Klein-Tools-1-2-in-Aluminum-Conduit-Bender-and-Handle-56206/100660166 Conduit 10ft section $4: https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-2-in-x-10-ft-Electric-Metallic-Tube-EMT-Conduit-853428/100400405 Tuve Strap clamps $4: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Oatey-1-2-in-Galvanized-Tube-Strap-2-Hole-10-Pack-33542/303434708 and if you don't want it easily slide able you can add 1-2 of these: $3 https://www.homedepot.com/p/RACO-1-2-in-EMT-Set-Screw-Coupling-5-Pack-2022B5/203671378 You can screw the strap clamps directly to your stand so all in less than $50 and you could probably return the pipe bender once your done if you don't damage it so under $20
  19. yup with all the tanks in the past, I have learned the hard way more times than I can count.
