  1. I would go herbie overflow. you can make them really quiet. Just with plumbing add a check valve on the return side and have unions on each side of the check valve so you can easily replace it if it somehow fails. As for pumps, a Jebao 6000 would probably do the trick and they are cheap.
  2. I wouldn't waste the money ordering chaeto from Algae Barn. You don't get much for how expensive they are.
  3. New tank inhabitants were added today! A blue star leopard wrasse A Moyer's leopard wrasse And a Mimic Eblii Tang
  4. Got my trident and refugium light in!!! I have an extra Kessil h350 magenta refugium light for sale if anyone is interested. $100 it's yours! Special for people following my build thread. Pm me if you are interested. They have 1 year of use according to the previous owner.
  5. Yah its kinda sad that most shops only bring in the basic bread and butter fish. they never bring in the oddities that they may sit on a week longer than other things. I don't know how far away you are from NY Aquatics in Yonkers, but they seem to always have some bizarre oddities more than most sellers.
  6. Hey everyone! So debating on what to feed my tank in my auto feeder for my new tank. Over the past 10 years I have fed New Life Spectrum Thera A+ 1mm sinking pellets with garlic. I am wondering what everyone else feeds and if there is some new food that has come out in the past 4-5 years that may be better.
  7. +1 to this. awesome range to shoot for on SPS tanks. I had about the same par with 250w halides and t12 VHOs On my old 120g. I had amazing growth. I will be running 2x Radion zr30 g4's and 4x 36" t5's on my 150 cube so I am right there with you on figuring on if it will be enough light. also remember that lights are only 1/3 of the equation of what SPS need (I have to constantly tell myself that when I troubleshoot growth and coloration on my tank). They also need constant stable water parameters and nice high flow.
  8. my bet would be its a yellow tang that prefers a red algae diet.
  9. seems reasonable to me. you basically don't want to raise your alk by more than .5 dkh per day
  10. I can bring her to the saint Patrick's day brunch if you want
  11. if anyone has any of those micro brittle starfish let me know. I am willing to buy a bunch.
  12. its resting against the overflow on the back corner. yah gonna keep it blacked out until its time to add fish and coral. Just ordered pods and some caulerpa prolifera.
  13. Well we are up and running! Now the hard part.... Waiting for the cycle.
  14. ahh yah i got scrambled eggs and midas golds mixed up
  15. there is a union on the pump. I don't like using silicone tubing on return pumps. I have had too many times the tubing coming loose. the pump is actually floating and hanging on the plumbing so its not actually touching the sump.
  16. Yah I plan on completely replacing the fittings and tubing on that reactor.
  17. 1. Circus freaks 2. Bloodshots(most likely) 3. Blow pops 4. Scrambled eggs
  18. It's going to be a remote refugium as well as a place I can bring in leopard wrasses to observe them to make sure they are eating prepared foods. So with it being a refugium, it will have a heavy dedicated pod population. This gives me a buffer zone to get finicky wrasses eating. They can eat pods until they are comfortable with frozen food. This is a good option for both leopards and anampseese wrasses
  19. Working on getting the tank filled. And got the 10g under the tank drilled and a mini stand built.
