  1. So its siliconed under the bottom so even if the staples rust out there silicone is still sealing where the staples are. I could have made it bigger But I am going to be using the LDS from Apex to turn off the pumps and email me if the puddle gets to far so should not be an issue. The Canopy is 20" tall. I made it that tall because of the tank size. I am going to have to be able to get my whole upper body through it to be able to reach back in the corner. And I don't want to have to completely remove the lights from inside the hood to be able to reach in there.
  2. Yah its going to take a bit for me to buckle down and decide on what to do for the rock stack. I need to swap the blade on my miter saw to my concrete blade so i can cut a few of the pieces I have flat.
  3. Working on the hood skeleton and got the Herby stand pipes in.
  4. The average load a caster wheel is rated for is 250 pounds. So you would want 8 to evenly distribute the weight and it would be fine.
  5. Picked up some live rock last night! Looks like I will have to keep it live for a while till I get the tank wet!
  6. And hole has been cut and painted for the overflow plumbing.
  7. What caused the par drop? Did you lower your lights? Or hang them higher?
  8. The back middle is probably going to be a pain to get to but other than that I would be a really cool tank. You could use some 4" PVC in the rock stack to make caves for the eels.
  9. Will you have that tank in the middle of a room? Any tank that is 4ft wide you will need access to both sides of the tank otherwise you will never be able to reach anything past about 36" in the tank. That being said, a 4' x4' tank would be an awesome eel tank. But you would not be able to have as many tangs as a 6' 300g
  10. Well finally test fit my gyres on the tank and it may be a bit iffy.... On the plus side it would be constant flow across the whole tank. Other side no wiggle room...
  11. Awesome! Well here is what I have for plumbing so far.
  12. Hey Everyone, the new issue of Reef Hobbyist Magazine is out today. Here is the link to it. http://www.reefhobbyistmagazine.com/
  13. Has anyone used sea swirls before? I am thinking about getting 2x 1" sea swirls for this tank.
  14. Yah they are looking really good! I still need to do a bit of touch up with a brush because some of the paint peeled off when I removed the tape.
  15. Hello and welcome! The meetings are a great way to meet up with people from all over the DC and Baltimore area.
  16. I think the key out here to extend the life of filters would be a 1 micron carbon block and a 1 micron chloromine carbon block. It should be fine with just a 1 micron sediment filter since I don't think I ever needed to replace my sediment filter.
  17. It was technically a 7stage Unit. I modified 2x 4 stage units together. I was running a 5 micron sediment, 1 micron sediment, 2x 1 micron carbon blocks, 1 micron chloromine carbon block, and then 2 di resin Chambers.
