  1. I was surprised the first time I saw it! This time, I remembered to grab my phone. Pretty interesting what we find sometimes!
  2. What, your Goby doesn't eat bristle worms? Just figured if snap a quick shot. Guess this explains my lack of bristle worms...
  3. Pretty impressive reach on that guy!
  4. Great info!! You saved me a phone call I've been putting off... Thanks a bunch!
  5. Have you come across anything obstructing the float when it has stuck? A calcium buildup would be pretty evident through either sight or feel when you manually slide the float up and down. I've had collonista snails through different systems that can be a real pain when it comes to float switches as well. Also, I do a vinegar soak on both of my Tunzes and my JBJ every 2-3 months as a preventative measure.
  6. Not going to lie, mine was a happy accident about a year ago. One of the nylon screws had a head break off and I was just too lazy at the time to replace it. That little bit worked wonders on my skimmer though! I am in no way crafty enough for that to have crossed my mind...
  7. Yep, nice little trick I have worked out too. I've had issues with new felt filter socks before. It got me a couple of times before I realized it. I now run them through the washer prior to putting them in use. Not that this would be your issue, but it's one of those things that seems inconsequential, but could come up.
  8. I've kept them under control with an old bottle of Aptasia-X that I came across in one of my storage tubs. As for as removing them, cut them at the base with scissors and cover what's left with superglue gel or epoxy. That way, you can sell off or give away what you cut.
  9. You are welcome to stop by sometime, although I'm a bit of a drive for you, as I live in Hagerstown, Md. While I don't have a nano with a sump, I do have an AIO 34g Solana, 75g reef with sump (not DIY) and a completely DIY frag system in my basement. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
  10. Hah! Puns are always intended by me!
  11. It appears everyone is taking a hard look at their systems (including myself). Exactly the type of conversation I was hoping to spark by sharing my mishap. Thanks for all the info Coral Hind! Good stuff!!
  12. appreciate it! Fish and corals were all fine. Guess they were similar to those guys that work on high tension power lines, they just became part of the circuit and it didn't phase them a bit. Good times were had by all of us!
  13. glad you made it through to! This one grabbed me pretty good. I figured I would post the topic just as a little reminder to those out there that get a little lax in their protocols, like myself...
  14. sir, I am giving you a hearty thumbs up! I have gfi's on all my tanks...except...the frag tank. I know what I'm doing tomorrow.
  15. Me too!! Not really sure how I could be so stupid! Wear rubber soled shoes when working on your tank folks! That said, I will now go about heeding my own advice.
  16. You know what's fun? Sticking your hand in your frag tank not realizing the maxi-jet you have running your Phosban reactor, is leaking current in the tank. You know what makes it even more fun? Make sure you are holding an open container of pellets that you intend on feeding the crabs and such. Saltwater + Electricity=FUN!
  17. I have the nano osmolator with this pump and it's a beast. I have it on my Solana, so it goes from the bottom of the stand and pretty much straight up to the top of the tank and into the overflow section. Probably close to 3' of head on it. That said, I feel comfortable saying it could comfortably go even higher as the water flow is strong at the height I'm running.
  18. Welcome aboard and an early congrats on the 10 years to you guys!
  19. Homer seems like a good time! This is why I will always keep atleast one Blenny at all times.
  20. You seem to be dead on. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog/activated-carbon-affirmed-as-causative-agent-for-hlle-disease
