  1. Serves her right for snooping! Haha Locked phones are your friend.
  2. Yup. That would beat anything. So glad I had a boy. Haha
  3. Djplus: how do you like that Red Sea salt? Thinking about trying it when my reef crystals is over.
  4. Oh and I also had an offer accepted for a medical peristaltic pump on ebay that will do 0.1ml per minute for same price as BRS. Woohoo!
  5. ^Sounds like my wife. Haha^ My tank got a second Mp10 and a Neptune Apex.
  6. Ross: The pH in my tank was lower than I would have liked and even though I've also extended a tube outside, I wanted the second skimmer intake to get clean air from the inside so I built this to pull room air in and the sodalime holds onto CO2 molecules so they don't go back into the tank. Thereby increasing pH. I got mine from MedVet
  7. Well the sodalime finally arrived and I assembled the new scrubber tonight. It's got about a pound and a half of sodalime and a tube on the inlet to funnel air to the bottom where it's pulled through the media and into the skimmer through the hose. The skimmer intake has a dual intake so one part goes through the scrubber and another to a tube running to a slightly open window. The chamber is designed for a vacuum in the lab and has a 3/4 opening for removing and adding media. I'm anxious to see how the ph is affected now.
  8. I'm still convinced very few people in WAMAS sleep. If you need to get tired out I'll loan you my (almost) 5 yr old for a few hours. hahaha
  9. My vote goes planting the 40g breeder and moving the Oscar and other freshwater to it. They have a need for a larger tank now and the salt can wait until the bowfront.
  10. I've been dosing vodka for a few months and its helped keep nitrates in check but I also now (thanks to Kjamaya) have an extra reactor (TLF 550) that I could turn into a biopellet reactor (as well as a bag if pellets). I'm wondering if I should try switching to it and if so, what would be the best method to wean off the vodka (not myself I'm still gonna drink it!) and into the pellets. It would definitely help those times when I forget to dose or am out of town. Any suggestions?
  11. Thanks a lot for that. I was able to get one and its doing terrific!
  12. +1 to Ashley's comment also. Truthfully things like a skimmer are not an absolute necessity on a tank of this size if you're regular about cleaning detritus and doing water changes. IMO one of the best things to get as far as equipment or tools is a good set of test kits for NItrate, Calcium, and Alkalinity. That way you can tell what's going on with the water and what might need to be added. (I use Salifert BTW but have also used Red Sea Pro which works)
  13. +1 Go slow and look for deals on quality equipment. They do come up quite often (also check reef2reef sale forum). Spend a bit extra now and it will save you having to pay even more for better equipment later when you need it.
  14. They need to have another $1 / gallon sale. I need another tank!
  15. Glad you decided to do this. Family is more important right now.
