  1. I found this test tube holder on the free rack at work (it had been autoclaved already and I also soaked it) then just drilled a couple of holes for the suction cups I had laying around and here it is. Total cost: $0.00.
  2. +1 Great writeup. I've been there a couple of times and its a great shop. The little emerald crab I got from them is now HUGE and the blue/gold Aussie torch is spectacular. Nice people too.
  3. Can this be used safely for dipping zoas with the same recipe the speaker gave at the frag Fest meeting?
  4. +1 for all. Manual labor and emerald crabs for BA. The day I got my 1 and only emerald, I dropped him in the tank and he happened to land right in front of my tiny bit of bubble algae and immediately started clawing and chomping on it. Haha
  5. I need to get a new pump for the sump and would like to have some suggestions. It's a 38g DT and needs to be capable of about 4-5' vertical/horiz distance. DT is using and Eshopps P-300 overflow box. I had a RIO but it wasn't consistent and the molded tube is now broken. Anyone have ideas? Thanks, Chris

  7. Thanks! Now if they'd just hold still. Haha.
  8. Hi Everyone, I've recently joined WAMAS and the social at BRK was my first outing seeing people though I had no idea who anyone was. I'll also be going to the FragFest today and hope to meet people there. My SW tank is about 4 months old now and it's been very exciting. I've had freshwater (and still do) on and off for 36 years but am now playing catchup on salty. Looking forward to seeing all the posts here and meeting you. Chris
  9. Not too far from you. I'm in SP on East Maple Ave! haha
  10. Trying to figure all of this out. Hard being a new member.

    Baby Virgil

This is Virgil. He's a baby @ about 1" (1/3" wide) and is eating pellet food along with pods.

  12. These are my two BTA's and a clown named Bonny (she won't let the other clown, Clyde, near either of the anemones). My Six-Line just doesn't care either way, he brushes the nems all the time and they haven't stung him yet!

  13. I go there since I live somewhat close by and their prices on some things are better than Congressional. I agree most of the people there are friendly and helpful which makes a big difference. (isn't it strange we get amazed know when people just do their jobs?) There was once when I was taken aback and told that my 3 1/2 yo son had put all kinds of things in their tanks (including the big displays in the front which is BS because his head only comes to the bottom of the tank and his arm won't reach) To that he added how expensive it was and that I'd have to pay for it if something happened (sorry, but in Virginia, the customer can't be legally held liable for damage inside a store regardless of what the owner says). Anyway, I still go there but my opinion of them dropped considerably after this was thrown at me.
  14. I went there about a month and a half ago on my lunch break from Bethesda and what a waste of time. The "boss" was there but after waiting for him to finish with another customer who, I actually had to ask him "Could you help me?" (I was the ONLY customer in the shop at that point in time) I asked about having some kalkwasser then had to say it was the calcium supplement and he pulled this faded color, dusty, Kent Marine kalk bottle from the shelf and it was super expensive. Nothing in the store is arranged in an easy manner, their prices are on par with Congressional and Aquarium One, it stinks (and not from the fish but from the other animals and mold), and they are the most unfriendly people I've seen at the local LFS's. They should probably also think about removing the old lead-based paint from the stairway going down. I'd not recommend this place to anyone.
