  1. Sounds like it! Hard to tell without good video. Just watch for dead spots accumulating poop over time. Nice tank!
  2. It helps to reach in and touch.it might feel spongy which is a sponge If it's hard like a rock and does not chip off with fingernail then coraline. If slippy then I don't know what it is. Slippy red is cyano. Yea it takes a few months for it to grow the only way is if the rock came with it when you put it in. Grows slow also unless it's a very established tank. Coraline algae actually has no benefit to the tank but also isn't bad.... Just very pleasing to the eye and is a good sign that the tank is healthy Or getting close to healthy.
  3. That's nice that you can re use bag. How do you re constitute it? Love the music in that video. Montis showing some growth already!
  4. Poor water quality or stress can bring the ick back. A healthy happy fish with excellent water quality can have an immune system that sometimes overcome the ick. But it will later return when the fish gets old, stressed or poor water quality. My opinion only not an expert. Tangs are very sensitive to water quality and are often stuck in too small of a tank causing stress. The smaller other fish probably won't get it because they don't get as stressed in an aquarium. 5. I think it will be somewhat injured but will recover. Quit abusing my frogspawn offspring
  6. I recently added a little flow to my chaeto tank since I couldn't get any to grow ever since I moved the fuge to basement. It's now growing wildly. I never had my clam in sand, fuge is bare bottom. Also never tried to feed it and I have a very clean tank. Probably reasons why mine didn't last long.
  7. Nice stand looks like it will give more height? Nems are fun love watching my clown swim and dive in it never gets old! LPS and Zoa should be a nice change!
  8. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Sounds like its worth a try to add new one first and see if they take to it.
  10. I had an Alk overdose once. I think it killed my emerald but that was it. Inverts are more sensitive than the fish. It came down naturally.
  11. Good observations wamasers. I have the standard looking ones. They don't bother anything in my tank and I keep a close eye on everything.
  12. I'm a big advocate of fewer fish fewer problems. But I think it might be able to. I'm curious how odd numbers helps? I wonder if the female is starting to turn male for and unknown reason. I have heard that can happen and cause problems. They have been in there for a while now and peaceful until now right? I remember seeing them
  13. Yea he works on his website and ebay only now. I'm not a huge fan though he really adjusts different LEDs to make the pictures and coral colors look good. I was kind of disappointed in how they looked in my tank.
  14. Also ricks off 40. There is one in Urbana called acquatic creations I think and the best priced and healthier corals are at exotic reef creations in ijamsville. I don't think King of corals is open yet.
  15. I see larger pods a lot never seen ones so small!! Now I know how the baby pods get their protection! That's not my video just exactly what I'm seeing.
  16. I noticed all these tiny white critters all over my emerald crab they are so fast I don't know how they don't get tired or run out of energy. I did a bunch of research and also went over my corals with a fine tooth comb. I think it's some kind of symbiotic relationship. They don't seem to leave the crab. The crab is healthy as a horse. I think they eat the scraps that are too small and the crab stirred up with claws. I find this stuff amazing. I'll let y'all know anything else after lots of observation. - Video Tube for YouTube - iPhone/iPad
  17. 1) all the heaters I have used eventually break and are junk so no advice, just use two undersized heaters so if one try's to fry everything it won't heat the tank up enough to kill and vice versa. 2) yes let dry out and research acid bath if you want to use again
  18. I have a watt meter if you want to borrow. You can pick one up at Harbor freight. Got bored and figured my system was costing 30-40 a month in electric.
  19. How good of a fit is it? Did you drain tank? Did you take the old one off or put it on over top?
  20. find out what kind of tank? Rim on order?
  21. It ended up being a dented thread. It's easier to put skimmer in and then put pump in sump separate then screw pump onto skimmer. I must have bumped the plastic thread on the way in damaging it. When I screwed pump on it stopped so I thought the gasket was seated. Fixed the problem by filing down dented thread. Producing skim like magic now.
  22. Skimmer collection or straight from the source?
  23. Good write up. Emphasis on watch the ammonia and lots of water changes. Some medicines kill the good nitrifying bacteria causing spike. Some ammonia kits are thrown off by copper so do your research on the kit. Also fish are a lot of times scared and not eating in QT then the food rots and causes ammonia spike so do not over feed. I like picking up live brine at the fish store because chances are they will be picky eaters in QT.
  24. So Awesome!! So what can we learn? Do you think it was the water changes and water quality or the clowns beating up on it?
  25. haha I remember tip toeing past my tank the first time it was filled. Glad to see you are being smart and not getting carried away with the good news. thank you sir. I have missed out on so many deals on here just got lucky on this one!
