There's one species of fireworm that's predatory and a problem. The rest of the fireworms that have been reported in our tanks are useful. There are reports of a species of fireworm that eats corals and smaller fish and grows large
How much sun would the tank get? What time does sun come through the window? My tank gets some and the fish and corals love it. I would think during the summer you could just pull a blind down if it's too intense or you are away. It's no fun being nervous so if you have kids running and jumping next to the tank just go buy a couple twist jacks on posts at Home Depot. Support the two beams on the ends of the tank or consider buying small pre fabricated I beam. Just to take a little weight off. I don't think it will crash downt but you want to make sure there are no long term sagging and no worries.
SPS can lack some growth during the first 6months to even a year of switching to LEDs. (A buddy told me this) but if you don't give up on them getting used to it you will see some decent growth. I have seen excellent LPS and softie growth in my own tank and the anemones love LED. If you are running a SPS only tank the halides are worth it. Mixed reef go LED.
It's ok as long as you do it when the wife isn't around. I took out some drywall behind a stand and ran it through the rafters then was able to take out some drop ceiling tiles in basement. That won't work if you are running it on a load bearing wall so just be sure to plan and see what your house will let you do. Buy extra heaters. I thought I had some cushion but didn't.
If you are ever in Frederick you can stop over to see how I do it. I have elevated sump to save on a little power, less head. It's so worth the trouble. Plus my display tank has free storage under it now!!
Crusty is my favorite fish and also my least favorite. He is a joy to watch swim and roll in the nem. Today he grabbed a huge chunk of blackworms and took the whole thing down to the nem. However he is more aggressive than any piranha or shark. Loves to bite frags I move or knock rockwork over in anger. Bites the hand that feeds him sometimes drawing blood.

I say 1/4 inch of sand. You get some piles and some bare spots. Plus it's thin enough the critters keep it poop free. Shouldn't have a nitrate or water quality issue in a 180 unless you have a skimpy skimmer.
My tuxedo urchin just expelled a 10 minute long turd. I had no idea it could even fill up with that much stuff. It was gel looking somewhat clear. Most of the fish were eating the poop. It stopped and appears to be ok. Normal behavior?

Never seen that. Mine is whitish toward the base. But that part doesn't get much light. Maybe try a dip and watch closely for any critters to peel off? My trumpets shriveled during the bad water quality period I had after moving the tank.
