  1. Sucks man..... I hate every thread of read about crashes and meltdowns.
  2. Pics would definitely help
  3. You sir, are a unique individual.
  4. Whatever the heck it is, it sure is cool looking. If it hasn't bothered anything are you really that concerned that it all of a sudden will start wrecking havoc?
  5. I feed pellets once late afternoon/early evening and a piece of frozen late evening.
  6. We use the metal hose clamps in the pool business all the time...... even on our submersible pumps that we use to drain pools and we never have issues. The ones we use on submersible pumps need to be replaced every couple years but you could just swap out the hose clamps every 6 months if need be as they cost under a dollar a piece. With that said, I believe you're using the clamps above water so they should last forever.
  7. Nice! Let me know if you ever need any help or if you want to swing by sometime to see the tanks!
  8. Welcome! I'm just 30 minutes south of you in Northern MoCo. People are going to be jealous of you for living so close to Exotic Reef Creations. I highly suggest stopping by his place.
  9. That's my hope. I had a firefish that I watched hop out of the tank a few months ago die a few days later (from the fall I guess) and my CUC was all over that thing. So much that I had to fight them off myself to get the corpse out of the tank. The weird thing in the instance is that the CUC has been nowhere near where I found the corpse. I'll just keep an eye on things I guess.
  10. .25 Yes, blue linckia. And I did just go through some smaller temperature swings when I switched from the Kessils at 8" from the water surface to the d120's at 2-3" from the surface as it took me a while to adjust my heaters. Now what if I didn't get 100% of it out? I got as much as I could find but I don't feel as if what I pulled out was it's entire body. Also, I should keep the air stone in right?
  11. So I bought a Linckia a couple weeks ago and it had been acting weird since I put it in my tank. Unfortunately, I did not qt it. He had barely moved since I added him, and had sort of wedged himself in between my custom rock that extends the height of my tank, and is cut at a 90 degree angle to fit perfectly in the corner of my tank. I hadn't checked on him in a few days until this afternoon while acclimating a couple corals. What I found was a decomposing star fish, separated into about 4 or 5 pieces. I kind of freaked out as I had no idea how long it had been that way. I tried to get out as much of him as possible but I'm pretty sure there are some small pieces that I was just unable to find. After removing the remains I immediately did a 20% water change. I then did an Ammonia and Nitrite test and showed a low level Ammonia reading but zero Nitrites (so far). I added a double dose of "prime" and added an air stone in case there was some oxygen depletion. Corals all look happy, as do my fish with the exception of my BW Occ clown who has had his mouth wide open now for a couple of hours. I did throw a few pellets in to see how everyone's appetites were, especially the clown in question. So far, the clown is still eating. I guess my question would be, is there anything else I should do right now? I was planning on doing 20% wc's until my Ammonia goes away. Sound like the right plan? Should I dose "prime" daily as well?
  12. I had the same thought but if I'm reading his post right, he will be leaving DC on the 12th.
  13. Just make sure you don't waste your time going to Congressional Aquarium in Rockville. That place has gone downhill FAST. My favorite coral source is Exotic Reef Creations but he doesn't sell any SPS really. He does however have the best LPS around.
  14. Brown fuzzy stuff? There's no brown fuzzy stuff. I will take a better pic tonight but I'm sure it's only this white stuff.
  15. Dude, reading this just ruined my day. You and your tank were the things that inspired me to dive into the hobby like I have this year. For that, I owe you and will help in anyway I can when you're ready to get back on your feet. I didn't see any scolys or fungias in the casualty list...... I'm guessing you had some corals survive? Let me know what you need bro.
  16. It's not that it looks bad color wise, but instead of growing like everything else, it's been receding over the past few months. The "sponge" has it completely surrounded on three sides, almost as if it's attacking it. I'll see if I can get some better pics, as this was taken with my iPhone. I will try target feeding the favia tonight as tonight is my target feeding night anyways.
  17. Armydoc has one for sale...... check his "getting out" thread in General Discussion.
  18. That's what I'm hoping. I am just a bit worried due to the current health of the favia. Everything else is doing great but maybe it's just a coincidence.
  19. So my Dragon Soul Favia hasn't been looking to hot lately. I have been noticing these weird white "worm" type things surrounding the favia, and they seem to be spreading around the rock that the favia is mounted to. They look like the solid brown "worm holes" that I break off from time to time but these are white. They don't move at all.
  20. Smaller than my Sailfin Tang and Clown Trigger....... jk
  21. 1 gallon more than mine I do have a one spot foxface though, which don't get quite as big........
  22. I'll take the waterbug and the 24"x24" screen top
