  1. Those are 2 seperate frags. I did not identify an actual flatworm when I dipped, but it's hard to tell since I use a strongly mixed Bayer solution, which makes it hard to see anything through. Plus there's just so much stuff that dies as soon as the Bayer takes effect that it is hard to pick small AEFW out.
  2. Hold onto your horses.
  3. Paul and I are in the ride on this one. We did a group buy from him. The seller did make right by refunding, but what an utter pain in the butt this has been. Really wish I had room for QT. -- Warren
  4. Check out Reef Radiance. They have the latest version from Evergrow and the prices keep dropping. -- Warren
  5. I chuck in a whole little neck clam frozen on the half shell once in a while. Don't even bother thawing or cutting it up. It's gone in just a few minutes. Torn apart by my fairy wrasses and everyone else gets the small bits. I'll try to make a video of it sometime. -- Warren
  6. I put in an order with getyourpods.com. Help restock my amphipods for the blue star, whom we have named Star Lord. I have used them in the past and the sheer amount of amphipods they give you is almost disgusting [emoji3] He isn't up very many hours of the day so far. Less than my melanarus used to stay up. Still nervous til I see him eat more. -- Warren
  7. My aquarium and stand are up against a window, so I can't really see the backside. Today, my lineatus smacked the mesh really hard, and I thought he might have lifted it up enough to get out. I went looking for him, and found my jawfish instead. The lineatus swam up a few minutes later after recovering from smacking the lid. I guess the lid isn't very heavy, and jawfish are long but narrow. Maybe he knocked it hard enough to squeeze through. Ironically, I had never seen him jump or act skittish up until he disappeared. I thought maybe it was a non-issue with 24" height or something. Wrongo!
  8. Yeah, he gave me two small sticks of it on one plug. He's generous with his frags. The one I got from Graham was single, but larger. So far the one from Flounder has no green tint, but the one I have from Graham has a bit of green in it. I've read that this may be due to potassium levels, and I have elevated potassium at the moment. It's definitely a slow grower though. Of all the frags I've gotten lately, this is the only one that I have to go back to pictures to notice growth. The rest are easy to see growth on.
  9. Found him :(
  10. Updating the thread. I've got a little bit of bubble algae and bryopsis showing up. Up to 1600 Mg using Kent Tech M. SPS are growing like weeds. Some of the frags I've picked up lately: Reef Raft: The Vinh , Sleep Hollow Battle Corals: Hyperberry , Frankenberry Pearlberry (slight STN. I don't think it likes the high Mg ) Procorals Superman Table Twilight dragon Tyree blue matrix Vivid Rainbow 2 Oregon Torts. One for gws3, and another from Flounder on R2R Cali Tort Copps Miyagi Tort Copps Bella Acro Wild SSC from piper27 Another SSC from gws3 and more. Too many. Need bigger tank. There's more. I really need to post some stuff for sale for this weekend, but my goby or shrimp seems to have relocated one of the very nice multi colored chalices into a cave. Trying my first leopard wrasse. A blue star male. He hasn't gone crazy over food just yet, just going off pods. Hope he eats enough! He is stunning. Hyperberry, and a not so rainbow nasuta. The nasuta got pissed when I dipped it. Strawberry Shortcake from piper27
  11. Here's one to contrast against. Another 8 ft tank stand using well known RocketEngineer's (yeah, actual rocket engineer for NASA) plans. If you look in the thread, there are tons of examples, and a whole mess load of math to optimize open span lengths. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=13191174&postcount=689 I can't find pics of the completed frame, but that picture should give you some ideas. He still has to put the front-to-back spans and cap in place in this picture. I think it might be missing 4 2x4 in the very corners that don't take load, but help stability.
  12. I'm not a fan of using 4x4 nor the way the top braces are relying on screw shear strength. Sorry to be the downer. -- Warren
  13. I tried that first actually. It comes off too easily during cleaning. Plus it didn't really help. -- Warren
  14. Two things I hate about my RLSS 6i. First is that if I screw it on just a little too tight, it can be a royal pain to remove. The other is that once in a while, something in my tank would cause it to overflow like crazy. Finally resolved both of those. First, I got a piece of scrap from Adam @ Incredible Corals. I cut, polished, and welded it onto the skimmer cup. The other mod was getting a BoB (break out box) for my Apex, and an Avast pressure switch. I wanted something that was easy to remove for the cup cleanings, so regular float switches were out. Besides, they don't even fit from top down. Here's a pic just after I tested. The red line is where the switch triggers:
  15. I did have a rock leach copper, which caused brilliant coloring in SPS, followed by STN, and little LPS growth as well. Took forever to figure that one out.
  16. The only thing I have run into is the pumps being set to the wrong setting from the factory, which makes it think it is running dry, and will shut down. The controller will flash when this occurs. There is a simple procedure to fix the setting though.
  17. You sure they aren't just hiding? Mine don't come out if there is any light. Wrasse food. I really can only tell they exist by looking at the crap in my mesh sock, which usually includes pods.
  18. Here is one idea for you. I've been a bit scatterbrained when posting to your thread so I hope this makes up for it. I have mine in a similar setup. I'd show you, but it's a mess and this makes more sense. I have the plumbing in the salt water tank setup to create a swirling action. Make sure to put a down turn on pipes at the bottom for maximum pickup. Don't go crazy, just closer since you lose space from the uniseals. -- Warren
  19. Might want to add some more plumbing so that you can use the same pump to mix. Helps warm the water too if you are using a mag or similar. -- Warren
  20. Oops, I just realized that you probably aren't going to set it up like how I envisioned it, so my comments may not apply. However, for the RODI container, take into account that you are losing very little volume percentage wise by going side mount. The containers neck down very quickly.
  21. I'm not sure that putting the floats on the lid is a good idea. Semi permanent mounting on the side should result in fewer problems, even if you lose a little volume. Let's say you decide to use a float switch on the top and hang a separate line for incoming RODI. You'll either need to have the cap on the entire time it is filling or muck with the float to fool it. In the end, I don't think it is worth losing a very few gallons. The top of those tanks necks down very quickly. -- Warren
  22. I dislike the manifold option if you're running a Herbie or Bean Animal setup, as their tuning is very much tied to the return output. My personal opinion.
  23. WFH today, also in Manassas. PM me.
  24. How about another jebao? They make really small ones now. Other than that, Sicce syncra silent maybe. -- Warren
  25. Yes. It is mesenterial filaments, aka coral guts -- Warren
