  1. I know, right?! All I can do is just laugh and have a beer. I wish I had apple care still. This is my Macbook from college, it's going on 6+yrs. The only real shame here is I just got a new charger and battery for it. Charlie Brown is a good word for it. Like you said, and I mentioned above, nothing but a laugh and a beer! Well, if that's what it takes... haha. I'm actually really lucky. I told my Fiance if it was the 57 I would have been out. Packed up and just waited till I could do a big tank. Could have always been worse.
  2. Thanks, Jenn. I've got a couple pieces coming through at frag fest, and I think I'm going to pull in zoas to fill up the extra spots. I do need to step away from the auction, chalice can be an expensive addiction. I'm bound to get some good luck coming my way soon, this week I've: -Lost my wallet (I've never lost my wallet before, I'm really anal about that kind of thing) -Had a tank meltdown -Broke my Macbook tonight when it somehow fell out of my backpack while I was getting out of my Jeep.
  3. So most of you probably read about my great tank meltdown of the 57 overstock. Just to show things are still peachy keen in my DT, here are a couple of pictures. I've added a lot of things, moved a lot of things, and actually, against my better judgement, have realized I've started heading towards a lot of SPS. Still love my LPS though. I think I'm getting ready to send the Orange Bristletooth onto her new home soon, she's my favorite fish by far, but she's growing pretty quick, and eating a lot. She goes through about a sheet of sea weed a day, and is the first to lead the feeding frenzy. New hammerhead algae free magnet: Huge rock of liams cloves that boiled. Let's see if they come back: Boiled zoas: Boiled pally rock in the back left: Two more colonies of boiled zoas: front center, back center None of my frogspawn made it, all completely melted off the skeletons, the above pictures show what look like they may have a CHANCE. Who knows, only one way to find out. Anyways... the good stuff: Gave a handful of these away, hot pink palys, looks really nice in the blues: Rock nem finally coming around: Baby nem: Mushroom garden: Flower petal monti: You're probably, like me, wondering how my scallop made it all the way up to the rock right behind the top of my overflow. The green monti was burnt from the birdsnest colony that was leaning on it, I've since moved it.
  4. I know you're trying to pedal wares here, but we just want to talk about puppies!!!!! I want to lay down on the floor and surround myself with them!
  5. Thanks so much. It happens I suppose. Thanks for the offer, I think I'll probably be alright, it might give me a chance to think about my tanks direction! That's really kind of you. I actually just started fragging zoas about 3 weeks ago, so I'm somewhat in the know! I'll let you know! Thanks, I really appreciate it. Some of the stuff was doubled in size from when I first came out your way when you were cleaning our your frag tanks! Thanks for the offer, I had it all taken care of first thing last night. Can't leave smells like that lying around! Thanks, man. You know I appreciate it. I actually kept all the SPS in the DT, so no loss there, just LPS. What was lost is easily replacable, like zoas and frogspawn, the biggest lost was the clam. you going to frag fest? I'll be over buying I'm sure
  6. If you thought freshwater was addicting... Welcome!
  7. Thanks, Jack, I really appreciate it. I'm just thankful it wasn't my display tank. If it happened of the 57 I would probably pack up and call it a day! The heater came to me with a bunch of misc. supplies. I have had a collection of heaters, pumps, nets, and odds and ends ever since I was in freshwater. I guess it makes that Apex twice as valuable to me now!
  8. So the survivors of my tank boiling are what appear to be Serpent Sea Stars. That is an ID by me... so I could be completely wrong. I have noticed when I feed, these "worms" have been coming out of my red monti cap, waving around for any loose food. I had my frogspawn on a rock that rested on top of the monti cap rock before I placed it into my BC29, which crashed today. When I was looking over all my corals (the FS completely melted) I noticed on the bottom two of these long legged sea stars. I quickly put two and two together, and realized that the monti cap has a colony of them living inside the big rock and around it! It's amazing to me that they they survived the scathing temps, not only that, but that they stay so well hidden! I don't suppose it's bad thing, if anything probably a great thing that they are all there... but I'm thinking my diagnosis is wrong, because live aquaria says they can get up to about a foot long!
  9. I guess it happens sometimes, it could have been worse, and been my DT! Bites indeed. I suspected my fiance at first ( ) but she was just as distressed when she called me on the way home from work and found out. Ah, well, I really appreciate it. I've got plenty of frags in my display tank, it's just a bummer I took a big chunk out and placed it into a temporary home/DEATH! The tank was up FS anyways, I was just using it as a holding tank. I guess it was the excuse I needed to break it down and be serious about the sale.
  10. how big is your tank as well? What is your salinity?
  11. You're going to love your new refractometer. I was wondering when you were going to get serious about this hobby.
  12. Thanks again Tom. Fingers crossed. Doubtful, but worth a shot. Yeah, this tank is actually FS, I was literally using it as a holding tank for a couple of days, this might be the powers that be telling me I need to stop setting up new aquariums That being said, I still have to get my Apex setup. I get it! The clam was the culprit when it comes to stink. And the hermits and snails. Just hope I can get it aired out before the miss gets home! I'm not looking for corals, although I REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciate all the offers, this club is so great! I might take some frogspawn from some some folks, but it's no secret that I've got plenty of corals in my DT. That's very kind of you, thanks for the offer, but I think I am still doing alright. I've been terrified of frag fest for that sole reason. I've actually broken the whole thing down tonight, and thrown what I think might look like it will survive into my DT. My starfish has come out of nowhere and is up at the top of the glass doing splits. I know this is not a good sign, but everything else is opened, polyps out, and doing well. I've got about 20 gallons on hand just in case things head south.
  13. I've heard shake it over your dt at night is a good way. There is also pod condos you can make with rubble rock. Rotate them inbetween your sump and DT.
  14. This is the cloves And this is the pally rock... Both put in my dt as soon as I found the tank heated, the temp swing alone could have made a difference, the water in my dt at 79 was refreshing on the hands.
  15. Thanks, Tom. I might take you up on that in the future. I lost my 3 headed green frogspawn, a small colony I had been growing out of frogspawn, my pink tipped frogspawn, about 50 polyps of candy apples, and about 30 polyps of what I think were fire and ice. about 25 polyps of my hulk green pallys, and a rock that was covered with different colored liams cloves. And a 4 inch purple tipped clam, which I had to take out to the trash it stunk pretty bad. Do you think it's a bad idea putting any of the stuff that looks like maybe it will survive in my display tank? Or should I cut my losses and toss it? It was a stealth pro. Thanks for the offer. I still have a fair amount of corals, it's just a bummer that I literally put my frag racks into it last night with all the other stuff I couldn't find a perfect spot for. Not setup yet, and on my DT, not the bio. Can see how it would come in handy now though.
  16. Found my 29 gallon biocube with all my overstocked frags and a clam I had just gotten, at about 95 degrees. Heater malfunctioned and pretty much boiled my tank. Still have my 57, but I had just moved a bunch of things last night till i could find proper placement. just lost some big colonies of zoas, all my frogspawn, and my green hulk paly rock that I started with. Also lost a bush of liams cloves. Took the zoas and put them in my 57, but can't tell if they will make it or not, or if that is a terrible idea? Really bummed, I just lost some of my favorite SPS, and a nice clam :/
  17. Not the prettiest things, but what about a big ol' box fan, they only run about $10, maybe you could put it behind your stand over your sump? Just guessing here...
  18. Since I got my RO/DI unit, I have officially hit my 350 gallons mixed saltwater. I would venture to say with my top off water, I've probably made about 500 gallons with it. And that's just with a 57 I don't know what I've documented, and what I haven't lately. I have two new Aussie Elegance's, one is FS if anybody is interested, haven't gotten around to posting it up yet. They have replaced my nems on the right hand side and opened it up a bit for me. Doing a mix and match with my Biocube 29, which is FS btw, but all my softies are doing great in there. Will be moving by October, and don't want to have too much concern with moving TWO tanks, yikes! I have even contemplated putting the 57 contents in the 29, but the red monti cap alone would dominate! Working on my Apex, skimmer is preforming like a champion, as expected. Rambling at this point, just wanted to brag (or complain, contemplate, realize the amount of cash sunk into my ocean box?)
  19. You could eat that up with a spoon. Nice looking pup!
  20. Hey, I wanted to show you in my post #75 (I think) with the biocube I used to have. In the bottom left of that biocube is the golden torch you saw in my tank the other day. Just a little idea of how far it's come, and how fast things will end up growing in your tank as well!
  21. Thanks. I've actually done all that already. I'm already ecstatic that I can check my tank temperature from my phone!
